July 24th 9:00 a.m. at the Expedite Expo 2010

Doug Morris will be presenting this workshop at the Expo this year. The workshop will take less than an hour. This is a great chance to get certified in this program and I hope to see everyone there!

This is a free workshop! REGISTER NOW!

"First Observer" is a national safety and security program. The skills, experiences and 'savvy' of American's transportation professionals are utilized to help protect the critical transportation infrastructure that moves goods and services and people across America.

So what happened to that trucking DHS program which came after 9/11?

Didn't it die with the 2010 budget, and no one seemed to care?

Why another one?

Didn't the first one work out?

What is the difference?

We applied to be in Highway Watch as it was phasing out so I do not know what the differences are. I like that First Observer is being pushed by OOIDA and supported by OOIDA.

We plan to attend as we feel it is important.

I couldn't think of the name, thanks - highway watch.

It seems odd though, OOIDA and other organization didn't get behind Highway Watch?

I think that we need more of a solid program that isn't dependent on budgets or the whims of some bureaucrats and more or less integrated into the licensing program.

Thanks for the info, here's the link to the program by the way

Oh you just applied for Highway Watch when it was phased out?

I thought you would have enrolled as the first group.

Thanks Greg for the link.

While this program will not make us more money it could make us safer on the road and also more observant of what is going on around us.

If you are a safe driver now and drive defensively then you are a better driver then most...

safer on the road? as in which manner do you mean?

If you do cross border then you already have awareness training...
