Finding Used Box Vans (4-7y/o)

Does anyone know of a good way to hunt these down? Under 10,001 GVWR. I've been thru this site, ebay, the local craigslist...Used box vans of this vintage seem tough to find under the magic 10K mark. I'm willing to drive anywhere east of the Mississippi to get it if the price is good and it's in good shape. But there just isn't much of a selection.

I don't want to go new yet. Trying to keep my payments low for a couple years.

This isn't for expedite, but local delivery stuff.

Thanks for your help.

That is because most companies keep them in service till they are junk
Penske, Ryder, Budget rent a truck, are good sources. Otherwise most will keep them well into the 200 to 300k mark

I forgot U-haul, but there trucks are junky

You got that right! I drove a 1988 UHaul 26-footer from the DC area to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia in 2004. What a POS! Full box, 180 hp non-turbo International 7.3, same engine as found in the Ford diesel vans and pickups of the day. Broke down in Danbury, CT and lost a day while it was fixed. Before getting to D'bury, though, I came up I81 in PA from Harrisburg to Scranton. Four ways blinking, trans in 3rd, engine screaming at 2800 rpm governed, and the speedo quivering at an incredible 28 mph  ! Semis barreling past me at 55, cars going past with middle fingers in full wave, and even a couple kids on Big Wheels sticking their tongues out at me :D (maybe the same kid that passed Cheri a little while ago).

Took 4 days to do the run, and with a better truck I'd do it again in a heartbeat. The customer was very nice, and generous, to me. Not only that, I believe that the Maritimes are among the most beautiful places on Earth. Oh Canada, someday I will visit you again :)

Oh yes, you read that right. The truck was still in service at the ripe old age of sixteen years. That's how long UHaul keeps 'em!!

Both Penske and ryder auction their trucks off after a time and they sometimes end up on used truck lots cheaper than if you bought them from Penske or Ryder.

However I would buy another truck Ryder (maybe penske for that matter) because of the after sale care I got on the last three.
