Finding loads for other EO members

Famous Amos's situation in Nogales, AZ brings up a valid point when trying to help someone stuck in nowhere. If you're stuck and are asking someone to help you find a load, you need to post your phone number. To post info about a load on EO is a moot point, as the load is likely to go in a matter of a couple minutes. It stinks when you know a load was there, but you missed it.

You are correct. I sent some info to them but don't have their number. Many times these loads go quick as Hawk mentioned, or you have to know that they will haul it if doing a spot bid.

oops....:) 336-512-9209

ya know...it's kinda odd that Panther will be throwing the boards out today at 2:00 pm. If you don't have anythinbg by tomorrow at 18:00 you will get an EM home....wat about the ones that are over 2000+ miles away from home....??? The turkey will be dried up by the time we get there:+ lmao

Any input on this????

I dropped off in the middle of the Napa Valley wine country yesterday afternoon, sitting here on the outskits of beautiful downtown Lodi, CA at the moment. Well, at the Flying J, anyway.

I'm 2200 miles from home. An empty move that far is a little silly, especially since I'd never get there by Thanksgiving, anyway. I'm just lookin' for a load, to wherever. In the meantime, I'm just chillin'. If I'm stuck here for the week, I may run over to the Bay Area and see what's what. Otherwise, I'll just get bored and have nothing to do but pester the pee out of Lawrence.

it's Turkey Day, you got 2,200 miles to run home to.
I tell you what, if i was that far out and it was Tuesday afternoon on Turkey Week... I'd be rollin' as far as I could.
Drive, Sleep for 4+ hours... and roll some more. You can make it by Thursday afternoon/evening if you wanted to bad enough. Let's put it this way, you can make it outa Cali and run your 2,200 miles home and be in the recliner before the end of the Cowboys game on Thanksgiving... if you wanted to be home with family bad enough.
But that's just my opinion.
it just takes a little extra coffee and a few more granola bars.
get on that CB, and find some guys to run with...
before you know it you'll have run 500 miles.

"...if you wanted to bad enough."

I don't. :)

For several reasons. One is, there's nothing particularly special or interesting about this year's Thanksgiving with my family. The big plans are to assault Cracker Barrel this year, instead of having mom do the bird. It was suggested that I go to a Cracker Barrel that day, at the same time they did, and we'd do dinner together via the cell phone, but of course, there are no Cracker Barrels in California. But, there's always Moo Moo's Burger Barn, or there's a Mexican / Soul Food restaurant near here, Nacho Momma's.

Another reason is, 2200 miles is a lot of deadhead, be it for any reason. I do get great mileage in this Sprinter, so fuel would only cost about $225, but an empty mile is an empty mile, and I try to keep those within reason. I had 2500 loaded to get here, and if I deadhead 2200 back home, then I'll have, essentially, delivered this load for half price, driving 4700 miles for 2500 loaded. If I had a load offer like that, it would have to pay considerably more than the $.77 mile I get in this van.

Another is, yeah, coffee (Diet Dew, actually) and munchies, CB, XM, little sleep, I could get there, but with 32 driving hours behind the wheel in less than 48 hours is pushing it a little more than I'd feel comfortable with from a safety standpoint. I might hit that recliner before the game was over, but I'd be asleep in that recliner before the game was over, too. Or certainly out of it and worthless the next day, for sure.

Lastly, if I went home I'd go back into service a day or two later, maybe on Monday, right along with every other truck in the fleet. I'd be #37 on some board someplace, lucky to get a load by Tuesday or Wednesday. I'd sure hate to deadhead 2200 miles just to sit and wait another few days. If I stay here, I've got a better shot at getting a load sooner, and without having to do 2200 dh miles to do it. :)

The load that brought me out here was 2500 miles, which is both my weekly goal and my weekly average. So if I have to sit the rest of the week, I've still put in my week's worth of work. If I get another one out of here in the next day or two, great, but if not, that's kewl.

Thanks guys for all your help. Thanks to turtle also for the laugh he just gave me.

We decided to dh to El Paso...in hopes of getting something out of there. And we did...as soon as we hit the city limits we got a load picks up tomorrow going to Palm Bay FL. Right at 1800 miles. No way were we gonna refuse that one!:7

So, guess we'll be meeting with our families via cell phone for Thanksgiving Dinner.

:) Maybe we'll make it there by Christmas

To you and yours...Have a Happy, Safe & Blessed Holiday!!
