Financial goals

I'm looking to get into the expediting industry, 22-24' box trucks and have crunched some numbers myself. Is it realistic for me to think after expenses that going solo I can net close to six figures. I'm single and understand I'd have to spend a lot of time loaded maxing out my daily logs. Any suggestions on what company would be the best to pursue - large vs. small. I've looked at Panther II and many others.
Thank You

I would be careful on using figures based on maxing out your daily logs. The problem with solo driving is the HOS so you'll be limited on your miles. Not everyday is going to be a 600 mi. day and there will definately be some downtime..how much? I too will be in the same boat so I'm trying to keep truck expenses etc. down so I've more or less ruled out a D unit (more because I'm pretty conservative and don't want to lie awake thinking about the overhead and daily expense of running the larger rig) I'm sure there are plenty out there that run solo with a D unit...more loads available and all that. There's a lot of good info on this sight..keep an open mind and dive in. Happy Trails

I considered running solo. Does anyone know if running solo in a C or D is more $$ in pocket than running solo in a van?

Hard question to answer without knowing the company you are talking about. In general terms, you would probably do better with a D only because you have more flexibility. Depending on the company again, a van may not have milage and hour restrictions and investment is generally less. As you read alot of the posts on here you will get a better understanding as to what might be right for you.

I will say this...

If you are just entering or thinking about enerting this market, there seems to be a backlog of B units. The demand is for D units. The overhead is all relative to your gross revenue - whether you are in a straight truck or cargo van.

IMHO
