fedex question

Detention pay starts for most customers after 3 hours. The 3 hours includes the shipper and the consignee unload and load time. The clock also does not start until your appointment time not when you arrive.

Layover Pay not sure what you mean by that. You are paid to go to the choices FedEx gives you to layover.

Empty Move If you have been sitting very long you can call into your Contract Coordinator and they will check with planning about moving you to a better location. Usually this is at the normal rate. If planning has a need for trucks in a certain area they will contact you about moving and this is usually at a higher rate and it will be stated on the Qual Comm when they ask you to relocate.

Load/Unload Pay Yes you are compensated for that. If FedEx knows is advance that it is a driver load or unload the pay will be included with the load offer. If you get to the shipper or consignee and they want you to load or unload before you touch anything you must ok this with FedEx, you cannot do it after the fact. Very few load are a driver tailgate and they are not included with load or unload pay and you are not paid extra for this service.

Detention charges will vary based on the load. I beieve E units have to give up 4 hours,D and C's 2-3. B's 2.But you must let dispatch know with aQ/C message to get a record of your waiting time. D Time is paid in 15 minute intervals so if you get offloaded at say 1258,send your off load message at 1305.

A little trick that I used in the past was if I had a confirmed delivery at night say 2300,and if I was early I would drive by and look the place over. If it was a large factory going full bore I would pull in and unload, but if it was a small place that has only 1-2cars in the lot I would wait until the delivery time. Sometimes the place might close early and they would forget about you coming in so you would wind up with D time for all night.

Now some might say that is unethical but it's business.I have been told by disptach many times and have had it in writing through the Newletter,do not deliver Early.

good question for your recruiter at fed ex
they pay detention time on d trucks after 3 hrs, after 4 hrs on e trucks
if authorized, you get dh to layover and dh to pick up,after you give up 50 miles
if you do loading or unloading, other than moving freight to front of truck or back to tail gate, there is also pay, but you have to tell dispatch,so they can notify customer and make a charge for it
hope this helps
