FedEx Custom Critical.... Good Choice??

I have several vans on with All State Express & I am bringing a Straight truck on with FedEx CC next week... Everything I hear seems to be pretty good about FedEx. I like they will insure my truck for a fraction of the normal cost & pay per mile seems higher. They also are going to pay ME to logo my truck... Am I being tricked, or are they really good? I am running a team if that makes a difference?? Any input would be great. Thanks!

All carriers have warts. The trick is finding the company with warts you can tolerate. I have 2 vehicles with FedEx. They have warts, some that should only be found in lesser companies making them more annoying. Overall they are a good company and hopefully will continue working to remove warts.

We have been with FDCC for 7 years. It has worked out well for us so far. We are used to their warts.

After 20 years in the trucking industry & 10 years with FDCC I can say that they work for me. Any issues I may had with them or vice versa have always worked themselves out. Those issues have always been over rates or dry run pay. Frankly, we have have been loyal to each other & I hope i'm with them another 10 years & we will take it from there.

You will find differing opinons on the subject. You may find you might move from carrier to carrier until you find one that suit's your needs. One of my needs is that I like neing assocaited with the numer 2 carrier in the indursty today. I like the name reconition that comes with having FEDEX on the truck, & a FEDEX ID badge at my disposal. I have several other sides of my business. When I have bid jobs my clients have mentioned that they like the idea of dealing with someone who is affliated with a large carrier like FEDEX. It has helped with my crediblitly. Of course that only helps get me in the door. I have to do the rest.

30 plus years in the industry. Really like Fedex.
Not perfect, but pretty darn good. Do not believe we've encountered a payroll issue yet.
I like when the money I am owed shows up on the day it's supposed to. Makes life in trucking easier.

Yep they pay you to have their signs on your truck. I was with them for fourteen years and they are a very good company. They pay you on time and there are some good people that work in Green at the home office. Claude Lawson is the best person to deal with in the recruiting department. I'm sure you will be very happy with FedEx Custom Critical.

Claude is a great guy and one I consider a friend in the office although not my recruiter. My recruiter is Marc Hodge. Marc is a stand up guy, totally honest and excellent to work with and my friend who is my recruiter in the office. You can't go wrong with either one of those guys.

Geoff Price is a fully capable rectuiter. Anyone in there I'm sure is capable or they wouldn't be there.

Geoff Price is our recruiter, and has been nothing less than stellar to us.

As others have said, FedEx does have some warts, but we actually believe they try to shed them. We understand their need to return profit to their shareholders, and believe that they see our need to make ours. As Zorry said, the pay is there when it is supposed to be. The business is steady , if you're willing to work.

Regarding insurance, there are better options than a carrier's, IMHO. ......cheaper, and better coverage.

Any of the posters above can probably help you if you need more info. Feel free to send a PM.

usafk9 is dead on.
Fedex will give you the tools to do very well if you have the desire to succeed.
They will also give you enough freedom to fail.
There is NO reason to fail here. If one does, they would have failed elsewhere.
The Fedex Occ Health is very good.
There will probably be a good cost savings with CIS. That can be done a few months down the road if more convenient.

This is a good post. I disagree that there is no reason to fail. Failure does happen for a variety of reasons. A newbie entering the business even with a trucking back ground could fail within 6-8 months just because you need to learn how to get though the muck & the mire of low ball runs.

I have seen guys run hard, take every LG load, take every $.85 per mile load & at the end of the month after paying the bills they can they are broke.

Can you or someone else tell me more about the FEDEX OCC Health. I re-call a thread about it a while ago. I never really followed it & I don't know of any program that is available.

I am not a rookie in this business. I have been running cargo vans for 4 years & been suprisingly doing very well. I waited to move up to Straight trucks til I had the capital to do so. I thank you all for the advice & agree that Claude Lawson is the man. I will be in orientation with my team on monday morning.
