My father is being recognized at tomorrow night's city council meeting in Riverview, MI, for his service in WWII. Sure wish there was some way to be there.

No, it's just not possible. Had I known a day or two ago I could have made it. Just one of the many problems with this business. The HOS "stuff" does not help either. Not enough hours between us to make that drive until AFTER 0500 on Mon, then it's not enough time to make the drive.

Just in case you haven't thought of it - HOS doesn't mean squat if you're in a rental car - that's off-duty time.
I rented a Ford Focus at Enterprise a couple of weeks ago and it had unlimited mileage anywhere in the continental US for what should have been a great price but was still an ok price (I wasn't smart and didn't do a reservation). Reserve your car on your computer before walking in the door and save some money. Worth looking into is all I'm saying.
If it's important enough, fly up and back.

It's tomorrow night. I have to be home Fri. It's just not in the cards. Had I known two days ago, we would have just went home early. Sometimes life just gets in the way.
