failed random drug test

I've heard 3, 5 and 7 years. I don't know if there's a national standard or if it's up to each company. Not picking on your directly but throwing it out as a reminder to everyone, that's why they call it dope.

You might also be able to pull your DAC report and find out or the local DOT.
One of the other things that amazes me is drinking while on duty. You can get pulled in on the weekend or in the evenings for a random. It is also possible for another driver to report that you are drinking to your company and they can have you immediately take a random test.
You work to hard to buy one of these trucks. Don't lose it all by not taking yourself and your truck out of service. Also do not be confident that if you are pre assigned on a load that you will not get called in for a test. Protect your hard earned license at all costs!

I don't really want to know but did you get a second test done to remove the possiblity of a false postive?
If it is a positive test for alcohol, just using Listerine will cause this.
Where I worked, they had Listerine sitting on the bathroom counters by the gallon (we made it, so why not) and we were told if we took a random, we have to tell them we used it that day.
If it is a positive test for drugs, well what can I say.

We got into a situation last year where we hired a driver who had perviously failed a random drug test. Before hiring him,we asked him if he had ever failed one and he lied and said no. It took our carrier a little over a week after he was hired before they caught it. The driver got canned instantly but was told by our carrier that he could be hired back if he took an alcholic rehab course and got the certificate to prove it.
You might want to contact the safety department at your carrier and ask them what their policy is and also ask them what you'd have to do for them to sign you on. Every company is different and have their own rules and ways of doing things.

Not sure but believe that Listerine is 21% alcohol..
When I got sober in 1983 ( Thank God for A.A. ).. We took a guy to Beach Hill Detox in Keane, N.H. for overdose on Listerine.. That is when I heard by the Detox what % it was..
I am glad I do not drink.. would not want to ruin my career !!!

Bam Bam , after reading all your posts on sitting in truck stops and low mileage weeks , being treated as an independant contractor when you're obviously an employee , somebody would have to be on drugs to consider applying at Transportation Designers . What has your average weekly mileage been since you've been there ?

safety tells me if your planning to have a couple beverages of the alcoholic type,putting the truck out of service doesnt give you permission to go drink,you must take yourself off the truck,then you wont be elligible for a random,also,the only time you will get a breathe test is if you are in an accident and get sited for that accident,randoms are mostly for drugs.
I once had a team working for me,I had an idea they were doing drugs,but couldnt get them into a drug test,company said if their names dont come up,cant call them up,company is liable for a suit if they pass ok

greg, ive talked to pat g many times,i keep beong told that a random is just for drugs,I to have had many randoms but only 1 time an alcohol,I was in an accident with a ticketguess its your bad luck or murphys law
same with my wife...she was hit up 4 times in less than 2 months, but only 1 included an BAC. One time was really funny actually. Last July we had the new QC installed an it stopped working while we were home in FL...we went 2 weeks with no QC and finally made it to HQ to pick up our new truck.
While we were right there outside the shop Tina got a call saying that they were looking for a place for her to go do a random in Ocala, FL...Tina was like "you want me to drive to FL for a random...I'm standing right outside the QC shop." they just happened to be doing the drug screens on new drivers that day so it was very convenient.

Rts0073 said it was a random drug test he failed first off.Random test are to be for drugs but now they can do a alcohol breath test at the same time now if they want too.I've heard its 10 yrs and its up to the Insurance company.Also alot of company's will not touch you ever again just for failing the random who knows.

Were you blazed at work or what? How did you fail a drug test and were in expediting so long. You should know better.
no sir i wasn't blazed at work i knew what i had done like i said huge huge mistake. i took myself out of service for 4 days following morning the company called. your right i should have known better no excuses i am clean now and intend to stay that way was just looking for some advise thanks for your input
We were at home out of service on a saturday afternoon drinking wine coolers. I got hit for a random Drug and alchol test. Informed The company that I had been drinking they sent a Cab for me to go to testing center and told me that since I was off duty the Alchol test didn't matter as long as I was not driving, at home and out of service, but that I had to do both. Drinking alchol is not against the law as long as you are not in your truck. And I did 3 random tests last year.
