To continue my intermodal tirade...

Express-1 Investor Eyes Intermodal Brokerage | Journal of Commerce

“There are four verticals within the brokerage space that, together, represent a very large acquisition universe — about $200 billion in aggregate,” Jacobs said.

Long-haul domestic freight increasingly is shifting to intermodal as over-the-road truckload capacity tightens, making intermodal options more important for brokers and third-party logistics companies.

"Express-1 increased sales 9.3 percent from a year ago in the second quarter to $44.1 million, but its profit dropped as it hauled a high volume of freight at lower rates."

Then when I clicked on the link, I got more details

Express-1 Profit Falls 39.2 Percent | Journal of Commerce

"Greater reliance on high volume customers paying lower rates drove second quarter profit down 39.2 percent year-over-year at Express-1 Expedited Solutions, despite higher revenue."

"Express-1, the company’s expedited trucking division, increased its sales 12.2 percent to $23.1 million, but operating profit dropped 18.9 percent to $2 million. The division is the fifth-largest U.S. expedited trucking business ranked by revenue, according to SJ Consulting Group, with $77 million in sales last year."

Kind of confirms what's often said on EO, more miles doesn't equal more profit.

They'll just have to cut the rates to operators again to bump up the bottomline... It worked before..

From OVM's tagline:

Drive less...Make more...

Dang I love leasing to Load 1...i am under ..... total miles this week both LH and DH, and so close to ..... that I can spit at it..and i have no doubt I will be well over it by the end of the day, ok the week...:D

Edited because it goes against the new self enacted policy of posting miles and pay so to keep new people from applying at LOAD 1....LOL...:)

Speaking on going to Gaylord Mich... total miles, paid...i could afford to DH out down to Saginaw "J" on my own dime and still make money...:D

Oh, and I'll go again...:)

And oh oh , the run out, was at total of .... miles , thats DH and LH..it paid $.....:D

Edited by chefdennis as it goes against the self imposed ban on posting miles and pay as to stop people from appling at load 1 because of our #'s...LOL :)

Not a bad idea to give it a day when you're in Gaylord. I live about 60 miles east and I've picked up all over up there. Of course, I do go down to Saginaw quite a bit. Doesn't hurt to try though...
