Dock of the bay- Good choice, love that song. Too bad Otis died before it became such a big hit.

Banana's is one of my favs too, I saw Harry, was my 1st concert, at the Michigan theatre in Ann Arbor (79 or 80) if you've never heard it, it's a real hoot.

Lets hope On the road again or maybe this one YouTube - DAVE DUDLEY -- SIX DAYS ON THE ROAD

will be the song for March

LOL, nope i never have. with you bein "gone" for a while I didn't see you or your post so didn't see the link... just shows that politics don't control all aspects of peoples interest... 2A, music, food, and sprint cars on dirt then college football then politics make for conversation....ill leae religion out of it until someone else drags it in the door, then i am more then happy to go there too! :D

LOL, ok i went up there, nice site! BUT !!! "Roller Derby Queen" is one of my all time Fav's!! Jim Croce is all over my MP# player as is Harry Chapin, "Mr. Tanner" and "A Better Place to Be" Great songs!1

Music is truly the universal language, when the Chef & I can find common ground, lol. ;)
I'd call it 'Expediting song of the day' though, cause my moods can change that often - and these are some I think say it best:

Water in the fuel by Fred Eaglesmith
(You keep) swervin in my lane by Robert Earl Keen
I'm on my way! by The Proclaimers

And an old favorite that I wrote a few years ago, to the tune of "Home on the range"

O give me a run
Where construction's all done
Where the traffic jams are far away,
Where I won't waste my time
Waiting in line,
And the slowpokes get out of my way

Home, home on the road
I'm going to deliver this load
I'll drive here to there
How far? I don't care,
I'm just happy cause it hasn't snowed!
(Or It's a good day - I didn't get towed!
Or My directions are written in code!)

The last line is variable, like the loads, the days, and the moods. ;)

I agree. Best hard luck but still kickin' trucking song ever! I also like Tom Waits' version of Red Sovine's "Big Joe and Phamtom 309". It's not nice to mess with classics but Tom Waits puts some grit and emotion into the song.

Cheri, your lyrics sum it for expediters. Now you've got to put the words to music!
