Hi Everyone, I currently live in New England and would like to get into Expediting as a driver. My question is , Is there a lot of freight that comes this way to give me some home time or is New England to far east that expedited freight is not common? Also where is a good place for a newbie to start. I have a class A drivers licence and many years of driving a straight truck, but i hear doing Expedite is a different career all together, Is there hope for me?

While there is some, Diane and I don't see much freight moving into or out of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont but the Boston express center is a busy one for us as is Connecticut. That is, as busy as other good express centers, but that does not mean we get there more than a few times a year. As a solo driver you may be able to find a regional gig in the Northeast if you look around a bit.
Whether there is any hope for you depends on what exactly you are hoping for, and more specifically, why you want to get into expediting. What exactly are you looking for in expediting that you have not found in other types of trucking?

Check with Panther. When I was leased on with them I did a lot of freight in the NE. Mainly Mass, Conn, and some Maine especially the Naval shipyard there.
