Would you go to a Truck Stop if it was for Expediters and RV's? This small Truck Stop would have a Dinner, Showers, Tv room, drivers room to chat in, a store, a Shop, and Fuel Island. I would like drivers thoughts on this. Lets say it's in Lodi at exit 209 of 71. Would you stop there?

Would the fuel be a branded product?
Would the place offer all the same benifits of the biggys?
Accept credit cards and utilize comdata and all other payment options?
ATM?

--MOST IMPORTANT. Is the place on my route of travel?--

Regardless of what the place is named, if I need fuel-shower-food-sleep-etc,i'll stop at the one most convienent. Ain't gonna drive 5 miles cause it's lots are occupied, only of straight trucks and RVs

Make sure the fuel discounts are as good as TA gives us! LOL!! In reality, I might give up the discounts for CLEAN!!! GOOD food, not the normal food groups found in truck stops, Bulk, Salt, Fat, and Grease!! GOOD FOOD!!!! I would be willing to PAY for that!!

Me too, The Other Truck Stops Cater to the Greasy Fast Food Places and I'm Not much into that so I drive right on by where I can Have a "Good" Sit down meal Minus the Grease! But an Expeditors Truck Stop Sounds Good, Especially if it has Clean Showers so I Can Hose Down when I get a Chance!!

Just something that I can share with the owner of Integrity Motor Freight. This may be something he may want to do, he is always looking for new things to invest in.

You had me till you threw in the RV's

Okay let the Rv's go to the TA then. This is something I have thought about for years. The reason I said Rv's they spend money too. You have to be able to make some money to keep the place open. Each Expedite company would have there own spot to park there trucks.

No offence to the original poster but this really makes no sense at all. It's just not financially feasible to make the same kind of investment today to build a truckstop for a specific segment of the motoring public and exclude everyone else. It just won't wash plain and simple.

What really is at issue here is that the expediters feel that their segment of this industry needs to be better recognized at the existing travel centres than they currently are. We are caught between the truckers and the RV'ers and sometimes feel like we are being treated like second class citizens when we make use of the services there.

It is up to us as a group to change that and little things like the expedite king cards, while a small token of appreciation, are still a start.

I applaud your efforts in wanting to make something better as I don't think their isn't one of us on here who hasn't spent some time in a truck stop that hasn't said to themselves " if I ran this place things would be different", well then someone needs to do just that but in order to make it fly it would have to be better for everyone.

As Roadyes points out, so does the rest of the non-expediting traveling public. To obtain the necessary permits and the costs to build a truck stop that can accommodate expedited traffic would out of necessity have to cater to all segments of the traveling public in order to be financially viable. Truck stops and gas stations don't make money from fuel sales, they make it from restaurant and convenience store sales. I'm not sure that the entire expediting community could keep a expediters-only truck stop in business for very long. And that would assume that the entire expediting community passes through Lodi on a daily basis, which is does not. I've stopped in the Lodi area 6 times in my entire expediting career, three times I've slept there, and three times just to run by the office to grab some paperwork while on my way elsewhere.

As Turtle pointed out..Who stops in Lodi? Besides me... While this proposed truck stop is on a busy lane for us..we are usually loaded or on the way to pick-up a load...I would wonder what the daily operating costs vs intake.

For the most part I am satisfied with the J...make the best out of what there is to work with....I don't expect a lot so I am not disappointed...and just because I drive for a living I don't expect to be treated any different then the travelling public...

On any given day there are 5 to 10 expediters at the T/A i dont go to the pilot so i dont know how many are over there. And that is just Panther trucks i am talking about i dont count the other trucks when i pull in. I for one hate RV's in a truckstop they can park anywhere but take a spot where a tired driver could use. With a TT i cant park just anywhere.

I wish one day everyone could driver all there trucks to my house since the Bone head that lives next door tells Guilford Township, that I have a truck stop here. Boy would he get mad if 20 D units and about 10 cargo vans showed up. lol

Sad thing is I moved from Akron, Ohio to Seville, Ohio because I wanted land for my trucks.
