Even Fox admits that income inequality is hurting this country

Rich people fund think tanks to come up with clever ways to word things. It's not an estate tax, it's a death tax. It wasn't a government shutdown, it was a government slimdown. And any effort made to restore the progressive tax system that made our economy the powerhouse that it was just a few short years ago is a redistribution of wealth.

Somehow or another we, the middle class, have to learn to turn a deaf ear to nonsense that hurts our country and ourselves.

This report was from the Associated Press & passed along by Fox. Had it originated with Fox, they would likely have pointed out that the gap between the rich and poor has gotten larger since Obama took office.

Part of the answer is lower taxes, smaller govt, and a willingness of the public to vote out their own incumbent representatives that vote to spend too much money and concern themselves primarily with getting re-elected.

There would need to be some independent thinking going for that to happen. This very thread is proof that most people get their information from politically charged commentary. Nothing good is ever going to come from this kind of behavior.

I forgot one: "Job Creators". It's one of my favorites. Fox News repeated the term over and over again until it stuck. People are so easily trained. In reality, 10 years ago they were the Job Exporters (has China ever gotten around to saying thank you btw?). Now I don't know what they're called but like louxio pointed out in another thread these are the jobs that are being created today:

How the Amazon Warehouse Works

Help Wanted for glorified Roomba. No experience necessary. Will train. Please show up at interview fully charged and ready to work!!!

The more "progressive" our income tax gets, the greater the "gap" will become. The more we turn into a "European" type socialist country, the greater the gap will become. The more the federal government controls education the greater the gap will grow. It is by design. Poor, dependent people are controllable.

The BIGGEST problem is that people are running to collect their freebies in droves. The class envy that the "left" has been spewing is paying off for them. Far too many believe that they are "OWED" a certain standard of living instead of going out, and EARNING it. They spend FAR too much time demanding, and taking, freebies and far too little improving themselves to make it possible to move above it all.

Even when they do improve, things like Obama Care come along and cuts their income, wiping out every thing they have worked for.

It said right in the title that it was an AP survey, not Fox News. Fox was just reporting, you know, the news as a news outlet should without any slant. I don't think people have a problem with rich people paying more, the problem is when the money is taken by force and then given to other people which is pretty much the definition of redistribution of wealth. Giving poor people money will still result in the same issue, the vast majority will always be poor because they make poor people choices. The same is true for rich people, they make rich people choices and end up better off.

Those "death taxes" or "estate taxes" are a major contributor to the demise of the family farm. Nothing like more taxes to "improve" things. Taxing money that has already been taxed is socialism in action. The result? An even BIGGER gap between the rich an poor.

You're right about my title not being 100% accurate. I usually do descriptive titles so people don't waste time clicking on stuff that bores them. I tried "Even Fox is willing to report that a majority of economists... " blah, blah, blah but it was too wordy - even for me. lol But like someone said in another thread the decision on whether to post a story or not is in itself an editorial statement.

Is there a way to tax people and have it not be "by force".

I submit there are no true news outlets in the U.S. anymore. One need only pay attention to a Canada news outlet or the BBC for a day or two to understand this.

That I would agree with. Don't follow news out of Canada but even the BBC is a tad slanted at times.

Your confusing me again
How does the illegal confiscation of a large portion of a wealthy persons estate create an even bigger gap?
It is a socialist policy which robs from the rich and gives to the poor. :(

In the Soviet Union there were a few VERY rich, the the rest very poor. In a lot of, if not all, of the European socialist nations there is greater gap than here.

They are not going to go after the Kennedy's money, there are loop holes for those kinds of "rich". They are going after the "working rich", to keep those kind in their place.

It is these taxes that is one of the primary causes of the demise of the family farms too.

This country is not robbing the rich, they are robbing those who earn their money to give it to those who don't. This government taxes things it does not like, booze, cigarettes and people who earn their way. They subsidize what they do like, free birth control, illegal aliens and sloth for example.

They also punish disabled vets by cutting their EARNED benefits while INCREASING benefits for those who did NOT earn them.

Yes, a national sales tax.

Good answer but not at all progressive. Poor people spending somewhere around 100% of the money they take in every week would get hammered and rich people would pay almost nothing as a percentage of earnings.

When, in your opinon, did the US economy hit it's pinnacle? The 60s? The 80s? Libs and Cons might give different answers but those are probably the 2 decades that would be chosen most often. Pick one and I don't really care which. Why not reinstate the tax system we had then? It obviously worked.

Progressive taxes SHOULD be illegal. The ONLY FAIR tax is one where all pay the same rate. Progressive taxes punish success and reward sloth.
