there is a rock and roll , country hall fame, football to
and a few other's
i think we need a eo hall of fame, for the people who help start this
trade and or help it grow into what it is now

in 1992 when i started expediters were not seen as truck drivers
and nobody understood what we were doing
and when expo came along and when eo showed up at the truck show
is when we came of age

so my list is as follows
l mccord started eo and expo
jeff jensen his trusted asst
terry and rennee example everybody follows
weave for there advice and help
teacel
dan schultz, made one of the first expediters trucks and look
where they are now
bill mccloud one of the first recuiter in expediting
and many others who lead way
need help in name them

maybe every year at lou ville truck show name people who have
been chosen for the year and then at expo putem in hall fame

Put yourself on there too George. A lot of you old Roberts folks were into this long before I was, and so to say "laid the foundation" for express trucking. Like just about every business except undertaking it has changed a lot, and the Roberts folks who have changed with it and stuck with it in any respect deserve a lot of credit. I have said it before and will say it again- expedited trucking is definitely here to stay, it is a necessity of modern business. The ones who can adapt expediting to the requirements of business and the sometimes silly laws will succeed.

I also think one of the founding companies in the expediting sector of trucking is or was old Roberts.

That is a very interesting idea geo!!! I'd like to know who it was that ran the very first true expedite load?

I did meet a guy once out of Philly that was an old cab driver. He would get calls from different companies to deliver very small things from time to time in his cab back in the late 70's or early 80's. Does this count as expediting???

When, how and who really started this whole thing???

Back in 77-78 when I worked at Firestone here in Hamilton they shipped a motor from Akron to here by cab! This also could qualify as a first?

I think all of us truckers who have been around awhile ran expedite loads in tractor trailers all the time, before Roberts popularized expediting. I know I did. It was straight thru freight that was not discounted. If memory serves me right,Roberts actually started by picking up where airfrieght left off. They found thier niche in going longer distances overnight with the heavier freight, that had to be there next day, like airfrieght. It expanded from there. I just don´t know if Roberts was the first one. They were the first one I personally saw on the road back then.

For those of you that might have felt offended by this statement,I was trying to be facetious,as i didnt think this thread was real. There are to many people in EO that give great advise to single just one person out.If you felt offended or left out,I'm sorry,

Geo...You have a good list now...you should go ahead and start the voting...and when people see this is a serious subject, there might be more participation. :)

Thats wasn't nice...
No we are going to TRY and have a Hall of Fame. Someone who has been instrumental and outstanding in the promotion of this profession.

Oh wait a minute...lets do like real truckers do and have a pissing contest in the back lot and make him trucker of the year....Doh

my introduction to expediteing actually accured in 1982,while I was hauling produce.when the produce was moving from Nogales Az.I would need to get there from home ,so id trip lease every monday to Houston Tx.some times the load paid 1.05/mile,most the time was 1.40 /mile,the difference was what the had called excusive use,or straight thru delivery.Well in my case since I had to be in Nogales Az every wed,all the loads I took to Houston went straight thru.26 hrs to Houston, would load Houston to Ft Hauchuca Az with personel boxes ,picking up at a moving van carrier in Houston, then dh to Nogales for my produce, which i delivered ever saturday in Pittsburgh,4500 mile round paid me 6000 bucks. In 1984,my best friend was on with Roberts express, said he was steeling money,I said ya sure,so we took my trailer and his truck, for 2 weeks,in case he couldnt get a load, well for the two weeks we stayed loaded,he didnt gross as much money as I did,but his take home pay was unreal.took me 6 months back then to get on with Roberts, but I found my home.Lost my lease twice,1995,and 2002, but been back since 2005,and as far as im concerned,if you want to make money in expediting, this is the place.Im not going to knock the other companies, but if you cant make it here heaven help ya.

I can understand an EO hall of fame, but I can`t understand you starting an expeditors hall of fame, Heck, most of you were not born when expediting started.
It was called exclusive use in the late 50s and 60s, I ran quite a bit of it in tractor trailers.
