EO a year ago

Is it just me, or does the traffic on EO seem down from a year ago. It seems this way to me. DaveKc,Leo, Dale, and the rest of the gang haven't been posting as much or has freight picked up so much people don't have as much time for EO?

Can you imagine how many expediting careers perished in the last 12-18 months? I expedite full-time and I don't see 50% as many expedite vehicles in operation today as opposed to two years ago.

I've noticed quite a few new posters lately actually....

Remember: Bruno it is not always about quantity of posts.
It is the quality of the posts and the information contained within the post.

I feel the same: seems like more splintering into 'factions', less sense of community. More repetition, less wit and intelligent debate [esp on the Soapbox]. Too much speculation and comment on who Doug may be this time, too little of general interest, IMO.
There's still good info, but I sure miss those comments & posts that made me snort my drink through my nose, sigh - that was a reason to check in every day.
Maybe it's just the natural evolution of any site - it's the only one I'm part of, so I don't know. But I sure miss the way it was a year ago, when it was informative AND fun to be involved in. :(

You are so right Cheri. I don't even see the long and funny posts by Iceroadtrucker.

Part of the problem as I see it is that freight has picked up after a pretty long period of not much going on. We are still trying to get back into the grove of working harder which is a great thing and then keeping all of our other activities updated.

The freight comes first then everything after that.

Last year though was the year of the downturn and every other post (almost) was related to the bad freight etc. This has an effect on posters. Add to that the loss of a few of our numbers. Now at least new members are posting so a new spin on somethings may come into the mix.

Everyone let's try to be more positive!

I would agree with Linder and others. The business over the last year or so has really changed. Many have left with the downturn of the economy. Some of the new posts are people fishy for what the industry is as they have become disenchanted with their current position whether through layoffs or just plain desperation. A lot of questions become redundant and not always answered because the same question was asked a few days earlier by someone else.
Questions like "who is a good company, followed by, do you make any money?". And the list goes one.
What has happened is there is less available freight, but a lot less trucks to haul it. We have been extremely busy thus the reason for limited responses at times. Taking it while we can as Jan and Feb might be another story. Keeping our fingers crossed that we and everyone else finishes this year strong and goes into the next one as profitable as the last.

I think it is due to an INCREASE in business. While we have been off for a week we were VERY busy prior to going out of service. More time working means less time posting. Believe it or not, I would prefer to be working or hunting than posting.

MOST of my posting in here is for FUN!! I will, however, go out of my way to post IMPORTANT posts, like those to help others, as often as I can.

Also, a year ago it was just PRIOR to a National Election. Much more fodder for STUFF to post about than now. :D

Like others have said expedite trucking fleets are down anywhere from 10% to 40%. That's a no brainer.

As far as posters? I have noticed there is a cycle every 2 to 3 years of new posters They come and go for various reasons. I stay cause I like the cookies....LOL!
