I go out to the T/A on I-90 about exit 36, Hampshire, Il. That puts you between the western suburbs and Rockford, Il.
Some years back everyone hung out at the Denny's on Busse (83) but that closed down.
I like to go to Naperville off I 88 couple of miles past I 390. I use the Naperville road exit,lots of places to park and no one bothers you. Also a couple of internet cafes at that exit should you feel the need .
