Alright contractors growth for the 1st qrt economy was .6% slowest in years ..also fuel for diesels is cheaper than unleaded.. sure sign truckin is slow.. fuel use is down so goes the price.. So all of you who ere told your load acceptance was weak and all you were doing was whining ..you have been vindicated...And for those few who never seems to be effected by ...oh lets just say a slow economy ..well yall keep doing what your doing ...much success to all

OK?!?

The reason that diesel is cheaper is because we have had a limited refining capactiy for gasoline.

Some of it Im sure greg ...the articles I read said truck tonnage was down.. freight not moving as high as in the past 2 years... demand for deisil is lower.. that was their take on it...But their is a possible pick up for the next half of the year..

i know ...we are getting hosed by these oil cartels..when I drove I70 through Colorado you see all the new oil thigs going up ....texas too we need to drill our own oil ....that may help...

Open up the gulf off the coast of Florida - we know there is a lot of oil there and Cuba and Mexico are getting all that oil.

Open up the Great lakes for exploration of oil - we know it is there, Michigan had a bunch of oil wells.

Open up Alaska - the animals will adapt to the few square miles we use out of thousands.

We have a lot of domestic oil but we are afraid of the people who think it will damage the enviorment.

Oh the humanity.

Oh the ignorance.

the oil rigs are pumping again cause the wholesale price is up
we dont use our own oil,it has to much sulfer, and costs more to refine it.problem is 2 fold, not enough up to date refineries and epa puttin there evil finger on the polution.oh thats right, the ozone,be better to take care of the nozone.

I honestly think that the congress needs to look at the sulfur issue to see whether national security and stability is more important that removing all the sulfur out of the fuel.

I am not sure how slow things are. We are up over last year and May was our best month ever in this business. We do need to drill more here and use our coal. Makes good fuel. Layoutshooter

Hey layout you make a good point. Synthetic oil and fuel hasn't been pushed hard since WW2. Beleive it or not that was one of Hitlers biggest things to keep Germany fuelled. He gave the industry lots of money and they pushed synthetic oil and fuel production way ahead of everyone else. The US and Canada could really do something in that area as both countries have good coal reserves.

Whats all this security and sulfur talk? Sacrifice our air for oil?
Greg you yourself in another post said the automakers were the makers of thier own demise by not going with tech change..same goes for oil and gas...Let make them do something constructive and lets all breathe fresh air. But theres theres gotta be a push from the White House and the people.

Whats the use of being secure if the air'll kill ya

also layout is right they've proved they can burn coal 100 times cleaner now then before...The coal industry has pushed for tech change just to survive.

OVM,
Oh I see, sacrifice, that’s what you think. You got to look at the bigger picture, not just oe cause and effect subject.

Look it is simple, we live in a country that is the cleanest industrialize nation in the world, our air quality has not been better in the last century as it is now and the problems we face with our economy are directly related to the supply of oil products to industry and the consumer in that order.

I don’t ever want to see going back to the 1960’s of air quality, but for some reason the summary of the Kyoto which points to the need to stick with a 1990 standard confirms my idea that that point in time is a good start.

I mean that if we roll back our restrictions of sulfur and gasoline to 1990 standards we will not have the rampant pollution that you and others predict. The Clean Air Act of 1990 (CAA1990) and the following regulations to enact the CAA1990 put us in a bad situation where we can’t even build a refinery and what some would like to see as multi-source/multi-product refineries can’t even be considered until we put the country first.

Oh when I talk about multi-source/multi-product refineries, I mean one that can be used for Oil refining and coal gasification. I read somewhere that WV was using a refinery for just that purpose.

Fuel from fat is another development that market forces may make attractive. See:

http://www.conocophillips.com/newsroom/news_releases/2007+News+Releases/041607.htm

Now, if they can take that the next step....invent a belly implant and home-use lyposuction machine that sucks the fat out of your belly, converts it to fuel and runs it into your tanks. How many cheeseburgers per mile do you get?

Seriously, though, it makes perfect sense for Tyson foods to do what they are doing. They access to tons of animal fat and they run a bunch of trucks. I am watching this with great interest.

Hey there Phil, with that keen interest, you must be a Tyson investor
