Economy question from potential newbee

I would like to make a career change into expediting, but am not sure if I would able to maintain or better my salary of
$850 weekly in this economy. I have 15 years of regional
class B experience with a clean record. What recommendations
could you offer to get off to the right start?

Well, from the way things (fr8) are going now (slow time of the yr) - I'd say it's not a good idea to jump into expediting as an O/O, but one might do ok as a driver.

But that's just my 2 cents.
