EAST COAST STORM

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up if you're unfortunate enough to have to come to the NY,PA,MA,NJ area today. For once, the weatherman was correct in predicting that we'll get hammered with a snow storm today. The NYS thruway (I90) and all the interstate roads are a horrible mess (forget about about the secondary roads!) and it's only going to get worse as the day progresses. Some of our counties are already mandating road shut downs unless it's an emergency. The 2 storms coming in Sunday are supposed to be worse than this.
If anyone is going to be stuck in the Binghamton area for the weekend, you're more than welcome to stay with us instead of staying at a truck stop. We have plenty of room. Just send me a private message. Hope & pray that everyone stays safe!!

I was sitting waiting on that Dream load and had it in the bag

When the Company called and said: We need you to do this run

9 other trucks turned it down, we realy need your help.

I said not today honey Im on top of a hot load that going to be mine

needless to say, I was promiesd the Dream Load and assigned to it

once the load in question was done. Well while all the Fare Weather

Drives Huddled Down I went through the Storm

And Picked up the load about an hour latter I got a call from a

Dispather tell me all was good not to worry. Then I just a few min

after that I got a Call from another telling I couldn't have that

Dream load as the Truck didnt poll for for it. So even though I did

my part of the Deal I got RIPPED.

Im not afarid to say when they took it away I lost over a weeks Pay.

As the Story Goes I did what I Said my end of the deal and as usual

I'v proven that time and Time again.

I wish a Merry Christmas To the Company and the Dispatcher in

Question along with the other fine few that tried to rub Rock salt

into the sore, By Hitting the Truck with Junk loads after taking the

Dream load away.

They say a pic is a thousand words.

I hope it rings loud and Clear in all your Ears.

No Chains Allowed.

I feel your pain. I got hit with a load on Thursday p/u in Cumberland, MD. going to Selkirk, NY. and dropped on Friday. I dropped at 0800 on Friday and went to sleep at the truck stop with the Mexican restaraunt off of NY thruway there b4 Selkirk. When I went to sleep there was absolutely no snow on the ground. When I woke up the snow was up to the door of my van. I got out of there ASAP and seen all kinds of cars and semis in the ditch. And you're right. Next time I hear "Heavy snow warning" on my Sat radio...at least for the ny area...I'm going to listen to it. and get the heck out of dodge. I got some pics of it I'll have to see if I can download them in the morning for the internet site. A nice winterwonderland scene. By the way, when I was headed out dispatch called me on a load and wanted me to p/u in Guilford, CT. and take a load to Hartford, CT. I would have had to dh 164 mi to go get the load. That was one load I turned down. And tonight I'm sitting here in the new winter storm and they wanted me to go to dh 80 mi to PA and take a load thru the mountains somewhere else in PA told them not tonight. I would have had to get some skis for my van. Don't think I have a red nosed reindeer pulling my sleigh...lol

Well it was kind of hard to miss this one, the weather channel told the local news people that the moist air mass was coming up from the south and we might have a few inches here.

So the locals put on the panic alerts since 4PM and on one broadcast they blended in the Oklahoma/Kansas mess (people without heat and electricity) with what they expect here, sounding like we are going to end up with 48 inches of snow before morning. I got the call around 6PM asking me to get in my truck and go to the store with a list of things to get for the in-laws, my truck don't do that - they got rich grandchildren now, their grand kids can hire a team to go dig them out (I know I sound cruel). They think that we are going to get snowed in for a week with 12 inches on the ground and be without gas and electricity. The really funny thing is they have the natural gas generator and never leave the house anyway.

I thought we had real meteorologist here but apparently we don't and they all get the same info from the weather channel.
