East coast port strike could threaten Economy

A strike by dock workers at east coast ports from Houston to Boston could cost Billions and throw the economy into recession. Talks have stalled between port owners and the union for dock workers and the deadline for an agreement is Friday. Goods hauled by trucks and stores need could come to a stop throwing thousands out of work.

I wonder what that our Marxist in Chief thinks of this? OR Maybe he and his henchmen are behind it? The left has long used union strikes for their work. Crash the economy fast enough and hard enough to impose martial law?

Thank you constitution for protecting all people's freedoms, even those who chose to be unionized. Freedom of association.

A little study of history is needed. Study the history of Marxism and the connection to unions. Learn how many of the rank and file have been duped by them. It is no where near as simple as you are trying to make it.

I think it not any more complicated then just plain union membership...unions CAN be a good thing against corporate greed....

Hello all,

Things like the Taft-Hartley(sic) Act will be used to defuse the strikes by O-bummer. The Act allows our Gubbament to directly interfere in the strike. The gubbament simply claims that the strike will disrupt the "Full Flow of Commerce......." and "Whalla", Taft-Hartley is justified allowing new workers to replace the "Striking" workers, or forcing workers to remain and work.

The last Longshoreman strike on the West coast resulted in the Act being used.

No, I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn - I did read an article a few days ago that linked to the act and gave its background. Here's a link to the Act Taft Hartley Act .

Corporate greed went away??? LOL

NEWS FLASH! People CHOOSE to work for corporations. They hire on, they know the wage, in advance and are told, in advance, what they need to do to earn it. They are NOT required to stay if they don't like it, the wages etc.

They COULD do other things if they wanted to, like starting their own corporation.

I would LOVE to have a definition of "corporate greed". I believe most that would be spouted would be quite funny.

The price of oil is rising sitting at $91 a barrel now. Strike could prevent loading and unloading of tankers?

What happened to the flight controllers is no where near the same as this situation.

The flight controllers were federal employees who, by their own choice, had signed a no strike clause in their contract. I was also a federal employee. Unions were illegal where I worked and I too signed a no strike clause. Signing a no strike clause, then striking, will get you fired. They asked for it.

The port workers are not federal employees. Other than the Taft-Hartley there is nothing Obama can do.

I think he wants them to strike, it would help to ruin the Nation.

At least it is just the East Coast ports. If a strike closed the West Coast ports, Wal-Mart would be forced to close its doors. White Trash Americans would go ballistic and I wouldn't have a place to park or shop.

To anyone that do not understands, this is NOT about the good O'l wages/benefits/retirements BS.
this is about the Panama Canal expansion project, & job security.
like so many times in the past, those unions try to run the business for the company board of directors.
it is a lame excuse to force our country to use their services in the future.
the word 'Expendable' need to be used.
