Ok well I was talkin to OVM the other day and I asked him what the dumbest thing you've ever heard of an Expediter doing...He told me..."YOU sitting in Laredo for a month..." I said there has to be something more dumb than that...So the question is..WHAT IS THE DUMBEST THING EVER DONE IN EXPEDITE...either that you've heard of or actually witnessed...I think this could be a fun Thread...Dont bash me or others to hard PLEASE...

No, you sitting in Laredo seems like it to me!!! My/our dumbest? Maybe taking the last two or three loads that we took. Unless something changes fast we are going to lose money on them. I should know better. Don't come out west if you have a month or less that you need to be home.

The dumbest thing ever done in exoedite has been done by me three times in 4 years. Heck, it even happened to me yesterday. I got out of the Flying J with a cup full of ice water and placed it on my front bumber so that I can free up my hand to open the drivers side door, get into the truck, and pull away. 1 mile down the road I realize that I left my cup of ice water on the bumper and just made myself look stupid. Top that one!

What about believing a dispatcher when they are begging you to cover a load that you really don't want or does not suit your business needs? You all know the drill, "Help us out and we will see what we can do for you after" Man, I still fall for that!! And here I sit!! How stupid is that?

About 3-4 years ago I was talking to a van driver that was driving for an owner, He got a load and a cash advance. Then the load canceled, he took his advance and went to the Casino. Lost all his money, now had nothing to eat on and almost no fuel. Then went on to say that he had a wife and 3 kids at home. I just told him good luck and walked away before I slapped the stuffings out of him.......

can't remember the exact destination but i was headed for this place i knew was in kentucky and the gps kept wanting to take me to the correct place near dayton. headed north finally by the time i pulled over again to check the info near cincy.

TJ I got another one.

I was "dispatched" to pick up in Brownstown Michigan - 2 pallets, 2500lbs. It was going somewhere near Chicago.

I get to the pickup, the place is a mess - annual hearing tests are being done and they have one of them RV testing centers parked across the docks.

I'm told to wait, so I wait then after an hour I ask when, they tell me 15 minutes more.

As I am starting to snooze, here comes a van from the same carrier. He backs up to the ramp, opens the doors and then goes in. I go in and he's standing there with a puzzled look on his face.

He was dispatched on the same load.

SO we both call dispatch, and we both get dispatchers sitting next to each other and explain it to them.

So after the supervisor gets called, then a facilitator and who knows who else, we are told to wait until it gets straighten out.

The other driver has the same run number and the same everything - even the dispatcher.

After 30 minutes, and an unhappy customer, it get loaded on my truck because I was there first.

I got St. Charles, MO and St. Charles, IL mixed up once. Luckily I had until the next morning, but it cost me a bit of extra fuel and a couple hours of sleep I was hoping to get.
