Dumb tie down questions

Ok, I have a 5000# load. My load bars are rated for 2000# I would need 6? 3 in front of the load, 3 in back. Or, can it be a combination of load bars and straps? Straps alone for front to back control are a no no in my book.

The other question, what are the walls (Z posts) of my truck rated at? Does anyone know that? I must admit that I don't. If the walls cannot handle it, what difference does it make if the load bars/straps can?

I think you are right about straps/bars not mattering if the Z posts are not sufficient. Have you looked at the owners manuals for the truck?

I am going to have to ask Morgan. I got no book with this box.

I have yet to have any freight move, I guess I have just been lucky so far? I secure it to the point of sometimes making shippers mad for taking the time to do it. I use multiple bars and straps on every load.

You didn't expect it to make sense did you Joe? ;)

The stuff they are checking is just the stuff you can hold in your hands like straps or chains, bars, wedges, friction mats etc.

They will assume the box is built well enough.

There has to be a simpler guide book out there somewhere.

How stupid of me Piper1. I have always held to the idea that if it does not make sense on the surface, and it cannot be explained so it makes sense, then it is not worth the effort on anyone's part.

Without minimum requirements for the strength of the sides of the truck, nothing else matters? Or am I missing something? :p
