The nesting count estimates for the 2014 waterfowl nesting season are in, and they are VERY good, AGAIN!
Total number of breeding pair are up by 8% over last year and that is 43% ABOVE the 1955-2013 long term average.
For 3 years now there has been very good over most of the nesting regions, couple that with the work being done, mainly by private organizations, to conserve and rehabilitate those areas, the ducks are responding. When wildlife is given what they need to thrive, they do!
Wetland losses and "green" energy projects are still a problem, but we keep plugging away, doing what we can, and TRYING to educate the people on this subject.
