DT 530?

just wondering if anyone knows anything about this engine. i am considering buying a 2004 international 7400 that has the DT530 in it,but i dont know wether or not this is a reliable engine or not.also if this is a parent bore or a sleeved motor. thanks for any info you can give me. DD

One of their newer engines, I believe. From their website:

"The engine's premium wet sleeves are induction-hardened and plateau-honed, assuring optimum cooling and lubrication for maximum ring life and superior oil control."

A larger ( 530 cu/in vs 466 ) version of the bullet proof DT466, with more torque and HP.

Yep, its a big DT466. It has been around for a while, and is reliable. Popular on the International small dump trucks and snow plows.

thanks for the info guys.this sounds like a good engine,and combined with an allison automatic it ought to be a good set-up.i might even not mind getting tied up in chicago traffic. DD

It would be a great engine for an Allison. The engine is most noted for its high torque, with not so much emphasis on big HP. The Allsion automatic works best with a high torque engine.

There is an excellent story on EO about a test drive Jeff Jensen senior editor and I did in the 7400. I have one for sell that has the DT 530 @300hp with the Allison 3066. 84" Aero Condo.
