What do you guys usually listen to when driving? I like to mix it up a little bit, sometimes listen to some country, sometimes rock, and even techno on occasion. All depends on my mood and where I'm driving usually. Recently I’ve been listening to 16 Second Stare a lot. I recently saw this cool interview of theirs backstage at one of their shows, I’m hoping they tour again soon… check out the interview here:

I tend to do a lot of hitting the scan button on the FM radio. Depending on where I am pretty much determines what I find. I am happiest when I find rock n roll, especially hair bands and rock ballads. Its also cool when you're in Louisiana as you are sure to have a cajun station or two. I usually have no idea what they are saying but they sure seem to have fun saying it!
I just got a new GPS that stores MP3 files but with the speakers being so tiny the sound quality leaves much to be desired. I am thinking about getting some type of MP3 device that transmits FM so I can listen to MP3 through any vehicle's sound system. The vehicles I drive are not so hip as to have iPod connections.

I have on my IPOD what I call my stay awake music which is a great mixture.

I like Techno also have you listened to Eiffel 65 I like their music. I also like God Smack - Rob Zombie - Korn - Linkin Park - Gordon Lightfoot – Collective Soul and then I add a few oldies just to keep me well rounded. I even have two country western songs that one of my daughters told me about.

I keep everything turned off and just drive. If I get lonely, I exit the highway, so my nuvi thinks there is something to talk about.

Let's see.. that would be old time radio on xm and sirius or Dave Ramsey or Hannity or Dennis Prager or Michael Medved but if those aren't on or are shows I don't like then it's Chicago, Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Bad Company, Kansas and other classic rock.

EB you have just got to get out into the world more there really is a lot more then the Nuvi to listen to!

I listen to XM all the time, and sometimes a CD. I listen to a lot of talk radio, but I also like jazz, classical, gospel, country, classic rock, and folk. What I listen to musically depends on how awake I am. When I'm on a long run and want to stay relaxed, I will listen to XM 71 a bit. It's smooth jazz. That's dangerous at night because it's too relaxing.

Im not that old (28) but I like the classic Rock my self. probably 80% of what I lisen to was recorded be for I was even born.

I never used to like country, but I have found a few songs I like in the last few years.

Other then that i listen to what ever has a good beat.

I listen to all kinds of stuff...Vashti Bunyan, Muse, Peter Bjorn, Air Traffic, Band of Horses, Coconut Records, Wilco, Serj Tankian....I also like me country songs, I like some rap music, I like some heavy suff like Demon Hunter...my favorite is the Indy though. I have some Bose headphones so they make listening to music go to a whole different level. If you don't have any, and you love music, you MUST try them. You can hear things in the song you never knew were there before. I drive at night a lot, so it's so therapeutic to have it loud and those headphones make it awesome, and set the music to the scenery. I also like this band called apocalyptica. They play Metallica songs with the cello, which I like because I used to play violin in highschool with the orchestra. I also have played classical piano since I was 5 years old, so I do enjoy the classical music and sometimes a little Opera. I appreciate all kinds of music.

We recently bought an iPod (Classic, 80 gig). Talk about opening a whole new world! Wow!

There is nothing on an iPod that you cannot also do with other devices, but, wow, the iPod makes it so easy. Just this morning, I installed the harness we ordered to connect the iPod to the truck radio and sound system. Now we can listen to the iPod as if it was the radio.

I am loving the podcasts. I am loving having my entire CD collection (all four!) on one device. I love how the songs change instantly at the push of a button instead of having to change disks or wait for the CD player to do its mechanical thing. And, to my surprise, I am loving the e-book novels.

My reading is always non-fiction. I get instantly bored reading fiction of most any kind. But listening to it on the iPod is a different experience. You don't have to put any effort into it. It's like sitting on the floor and listening while the teacher reads you a story. Lots of great novels are available free online that can be downloaded into an iPod.

So, what I listen to? With the iPod, it's a whole lot more than I used to listen to; a wider variety of music, podcasts, e-books, and of course the usual favorites on satellite radio.

We will be on an overnight runs from now to Friday morning. This is going to be fun!

iPod rules!

They took off 2 of my favorites Dragnet and Sgt. Preston and the great dog king. If you don't have Sirius or XM your days are way longer than they have to be, I've got both but just cancelled XM because I can't listen to the Tigers anymore, too depressing. On the Howard Stern subject you may think alot of things about his show but if you've never given it a chance it is probably not what you think it is. My wife was a huge Howard fan and I used to give her a hard time for it. Then when I got Sirius, I listened a couple of times and now I am so hooked on it, nothing kills 5 hours faster for me than that show. BABABOOHEY all.

Opie and Anthony in the mornings 6-11 ish. CNBC or Ron and Fez in the early afternoon (once the price of oil fell below 120 I could listen to CNBC without getting depressed), it's good background noise.

At night, XM 48, a bit of Kevin on 171.

If I feel a bit groggy, I have Shinedown's latest CD and a subwoofer that says wakey wakey in a special way!

If all else fails, the Duramax does have a pleasant hum.

I used to play Cds, (even danced in the seat, sometimes, to get the circulation going), until I discovered Audible.com. (Thanks to Linder & Terry:)) Now, I download audiobooks to CD, soon to be to Garmin. (I know Linder uses an iPod, but I don't have one), and the hours just zoom by!
I've noticed, though, that my brain considers spoken words to be something that MUST be paid attention to - I can't fall asleep to the tv, or a talk show, kind of thing, so audiobooks keep me awake & alert. If your brain is the kind that finds talking just the right thing to fall asleep to, music is a better choice.
Tuckster: try renting an audiobook at a truckstop, (or borrowing from the library) to see how you like it.
Butterfly: be careful with the headphones - I believe they're illegal, while driving.....
