Drivers for fleet owners and Company drivers

Just curious - how many of you in the forums are drivers in company/fleet owned vehicles?

I'm currently not employed but all my expediting has been as a lease operator for an owner operator. I haven't been to Florence, y'all in a while either!

I lease through ES for FECC.
Is there even such a thing as company drivers in this business?

Diane and I drove fleet-owner trucks as independent contractors for the first three years we were in the business, and have been driving our own truck since then.

I began my expediting career as a company driver for a start-up expedite company. I drove a company owned van or a leased straight truck. This lasted for about 14 months, at which time the company had increased it's customer and O/O base and eliminated all company drivers.

I liked the company and the work so I bought a cargo van and leased on. I've been an O/O ever since.

We drove for an owner for 2 years when we started. We have owned our own truck ever since.

We drove for ES (40/60 split) for 7 months then took 2 months off due to a near death in the family.
We then drove for another fleet owner (60/40 split) for 4 months then took 2 months off to try and find a local job.
We then bought our own truck last October.
We are happier as O/O's.
