Expert Expediter
Drivers beware...
Busy season is within reach! A lot of things are changing fast in the expediting field. This is a very good, decent, profitable business
for all; but, there is a serious evergrowing bad that has sprouted up. This gangrene area is not only effecting experienced drivers, but if not dealt with soon!, will effect all involved in expediting.
The way in which the expediting system is set up, and using the term "sub-contractor", with the driver being a "sub-contractor". Has opened up a big can of worms that I would like to refer to as..."THE DEAD-BEAT OWNER SYNDROME".
I hear more and more about Dead beat owners ripping off good honest drivers! Why?, because they think they can! They hide behind the guise of the term "sub-contractor".
And I would also like to draw attention to the cold hard fact that especially exists within the larger expediting companies. These companies will always take care of and stand by the truck owners, not you, "the driver"; no matter what the situation!!
This attitude I believe helps secure and fuel these dead beat owners. This is a very large problem that needs to be addressed soon! if not, then you large companies will suffer also, along with you honest truck owners out there.
The driver!, not the company, not the truck owner. The "driver" is the backbone of success in the expediting field.
I myself live in the north Texas area. I am a very good, honest, conscientious driver that most owners would dream of having. Yet I fell victim to a Dead-beat owner named Bob, out of the New York state area. I even drove his truck to his doorstep.
And instead of receiving almost a $3000.00 check that was owed to me including the escrow. He sent me a $67.00 check.
On a more personal note; the thing that bothered me more than being ripped off of my hard earned money! was his pompous attitude he had with me on the phone while making false accusations to justify his theft.
