The following is a transcript from an actual QualComm conversation between a van driver and dispatch. The names have been changed because that’s how it is done on television. Dispatcher conversation will be in uppercase type, van driver conversation in lowercase type. Just like the real thing.

All most all LTL carriers assign a pro number to every shipment. In many cases this is the only way to track or identify freight. When dealing with a LTL carrier ALWAYS ASK FOR A PRO NUMBER. Drivers, dispatchers customer reps… ASK FOR A PRO NUMBER!
Same goes for airfreight. All airfreight shipments are assigned an AIR WAY BILL (AWB)number with the exception of charter air shipments. Drivers, dispatchers customer reps…ASK FOR AN AWB NUMBER!
ALWAYS, ALWAYS ALWAYS ASK FOR PRO# OR AWB#
