I don't wish anyone to be ill, but it's really too bad that he won't have to use the system he wants to help put in place.

While i don't wish him any ill dealings with this.....Think he will be the Gov example and use the Public Care System that they want to force on the people?? NAH....I am thinkin he will get on his private jet and fly to the best cancer institue in the country, just as his buddy Teddy did......

This most likely WILL show the double standard that he lives by. Having said that, we must keep in mind that he is human and ill and wish him well. We must also remember that this type of cancer is the most prevelent cancer in the nation. With 1 in 6 men getting this cancer we truely need to start paying far more attetion to it than we do.

Sorry... some people I just can't get sad when they get sick. Dodd is one of them, Kennedy was another.

Dodd will probably go outside the country to get the HiFu treatment . The U.S. is the only civilized country in the world that hasn't approved it . The FDA is obviously influenced by manufacturers of equipment used in robotic surgery and radiation treatments that would become obsolete with the approval of HIFU . Interesting, I have Never Heard of that Treatment!! Makes ya Kinda wonder as to Why Our Beloved FDA Hasn't approved it YET? And any "Other" Treatments they are Hiding for Other Diseases!

The FDA is allowing limited numbers of clinical trials Search of: prostate hifu - List Results - ClinicalTrials.gov . The problem with clinical trials is half those recruited must use the alternative treatment . Note the trials seeking patients with recurring cancer . Many opt for radiation treatments rather than prostate removal . I believe Don Imus chose radiation . Once radiation is used as a treatment surgical removal of the prostate is complicated and requires skills that a limited number of surgeons have . Salvage Radical Prostatectomy Following Prostate Cancer Recurrence . HIFU should be the treatment of choice with recurring cancer .
