Try 5/8 plywood floor sheeting, cut the ends at an angle with a saw
and just back the trucks close, will cost 8 bucks and will work great.

To add to that I would suggest using 3/4" OSB as it is less flexible than regular plywood and screwing a 4' piece of 4"x4" across the center of the OSB to provide a spacer that both trucks can snug up to so they are not bumping into each others box. Total cost about 20 bucks.

We had one made for my D unit. Go anywhere that sells sheet metal and have them cut you a 4 1/2 foot by 3 foot piece of tread plate drill two holes in each end for rope handles and grind the edges for easy roll of the pallet jack. Be careful when rolling pallet jack over the plate going from truck to truck as it could slip. It would be a good idea to drill a couple holes to place a pin to prevent the plate from sliding. This plate will be light weight and store easily. Good Luck
