DMW... What a waste of time....

Now that I'm looking to get back into my cargo van and (hopefully) find work, where would you think I'd go to first to see who's putting vans on? Expeditors Online of course!!! So.. looking at the jobs page I start with the company at the top of the list; DMW.

I called and spoke to Jeff who just laughed and said he got calls all the time from that add he has on Expeditors Online. They just are not really needing any of the vans their ad is asking for.

What a waste of time this outfit must be. Too busy to take down an ad for drivers and laugh it off when a driver calls. I won't be wasting anymore time on this bunch.

It's a simple courtesy to remove your advertisement when the need is filled as to not waste other people's time. I know this isn't done by individuals very often but businesses that fail to do this are just expressing how they feel about others. It's pretty clear that DMW doesn't really care if they waste the time of drivers looking for work. A big thanks to DMW!

just a guess but would that involve him rewriting the ad pulling the old ad off the site and waiting for a new ad to be approved? I kind of doubt anyone's going to go through that right now. Besides that next week he may need/want 5 drivers or more.

There's really no writing a new ad involved... the template has already been laid out and a few clicks either gets it posted or removed. It's a no brainier.

that would mean communication between OnTime Media and the carrier....they ain't going to change it every week or so...carriers needs change almost daily....

Not sure what you mean by this... Load 1 isn't taking in CVs that I can find...
At Load One there is a waiting list for Sprinters and straights. Just because they have an ad doesn't mean that if you call them today you're going to start with them immediately. But then again, the same thing can be said for most carriers, even the ones that laugh at you on the phone.

Sorry to hear that.

May be those ads should have a little note on bottom of the page saying something like, "Please call to verify the open positions," or something like that. That way they don't need to be taking down or put back up.

I don't know Jeff, but I placed a call to DMV 6 months ago looking for some info. He returned my calls. We have several follow up conversations. He seems to be a down to earth guy and friendly. Personally, from my conversations with him, I was the one that did the most laughing.

For many months, it has been pretty rough for the van sector that many could cry. But hey, I would rather cover up my crying with the laughter instead:)

Brother, I wouldn't take it personally. I wish you good luck in this difficult times:)

I guess the jobs pages here are just for giggles then... I'm from where folks say what they mean... if an ad states "DMW Expedite needs (cargo) van owner operators in Nashville, Memphis, and...", I take that to mean they need cargo van owner operators... just saying...

I understand what you are saying completely.....and I agree...but that is not how these guys work...Its like them big ads for the 5,000$ sign on bonus in big flashing letters....BUT there is the SMALL print to bite you in the butt....
