Distance from company

Hi I am new to the forum and am new to expediting. I have 3 questions and would appreciate if you could answer.
1. Are there any problems if your company is located several miles away from home (greater than 300 miles) but both you and the company are located in major cities in the Mid West / North East.
2. Is there a penalty if you leave your company sooner?
3. Is it possible to come home every weekend while working with your company?

Thanks a lot.

1. No
2. depends on the contract, Read it.
3. Not if you want to maximize your income.

4. I would suggest based on your questions that you do some reading of past posts to further your understanding of this industry.

1.Makes no difference where the company is located in relation to your home. If you intend to be successful in this business you won't be home much.

2. Depends on what your contract reads.

3. Once a month or so, prolly.

Not sure why it would concern you how far you are located from the company? Very often you go the company headquarters for orientation and it can be a year or more before you would need to go back. Communication is done through the mail, fax, QUALCOMM, direct deposit and phone.

Not sure what you mean by sooner? Sooner then what? You need to talk to as many people as you can good and bad that drive the same type vehicle you are interested in at the company you are interested in. You need to talk to the recruiter more than once asking questions that concern you and then you should be able to make a pretty educated decision on if that company will work for you. Like I said though talk to people who really like the company and why they like it and also talk to people who are not happy and why they do not like the company. Often what one person hates about a company is something that would not bother you in the least. Jumping companies does not look real good on your DAC report.

If you need to be home all of the time this is not the business for you. It cost way too much to pay for fuel to dead head home all of the time. If you get within a hundred miles of the house go home if you are three hundred or more miles from the house think about it and what it will cost you in fuel to DH home. The fuel to DH home could be more then you have made all week in these times.

Keep asking questions as networking is one of the keys to making it in this business or deciding before you go to far in debt that this is not the lifestyle for you.
