No secret of my past profession, really did not want carpet in my sleeper but was convinced this was the cheapest/best option. Well it happened, 5th wheel grease and oh about 5 nice spots plus all that diesel overspill stuck to my new carpet that looked like the office to the shop foreman.
SOLUTION - called some old contacts about $400 for a new hand held with two suction settings plus a heater. Wow more than I wanted to spend. Than the bride told me about a Bissell unit at Cotsco for $80.00 SOLD if it does not work take it back.
Go buy one, if not, you can find me at the next truck stop as the unit weighs about 30lbs and for $45 to $55 I will be happy to clean yours to. X-tra steak money so I can pay LBD what I owe him.
There are some secrets to making these efficent, 1st spray the carpet with Distilled water and Oxi-Clean let it sit 5 minutes then as the instructions tell you use the soap solution and pre-spray again with carpet cleaning soap let it sit again. Remember chemicals work better than muscle. Secret again is Distilled water. Why? No hard water, this is why many times you cannot get suds or if you notice some showers the shampoo works better than others (hard water) and you want all of the soap to come out of the carpet.
Now go ahead and clean using the solution on the carpet and now pressure cleaning with the hot water extraction. Bingo even the spots that I was sure would be with me forever are gone.
