Specialty chemical supplier Degussa is considering to construct a plant in Alabama to supply the growing biodiesel market in Canada, Mexico and the USA. The 60,000 metric ton facility in Mobile, Alabama, would make alkoxides, used as transesterification catalyst for biodiesel.
"With this facility, we are consistently pursuing our strategy of strengthening businesses with leading positions in attractive markets. The intensive debate on climate protection leads us to expect a growth rate well into double digits for the biodiesel market. This applies particularly for the U.S." -- Dr. Klaus Engel, CEO Degussa
Mercedes-Benz is reportedly working on raising biodiesel content from B5 to B10 or even B20 like Cummins.

"I'd like to go have a couple of beers with you guys, but I haven't finished my (that word)."

"We're really worried about Great-aunt Mabel's (that word)."

"Jennifer's totally hot. She can (that word) like you wouldn't believe!"

Highway,
The proper way to convert waste and virgin vegtable oils to diesel is to take the fat out of it, which one way is to use lye and do a water rinse to the fuel. you end up with goupy glycerine and fuel. The stuff these guys will be making will be a substitute for the lye.
