Define Honest

Could someone please tell me if the word honest has changed, or are there different meanings?

If you run an ad on this web site and you are looking for an honest person please be honest yourself.

I answer an ad that was on drivers wanted section of the classified section, to lease a van and thought that I had a deal to buy a van though a lease plan.
My van is getting old so I was going to get another van to replace mine. Called my company and made all the arraingments to bring the van up and put it on. I thought that I was going to be picking up the other van up last weekend. Talked to the owner of the van I thought that I was going to be leasing last thurday evening and he told me to give him a call on Friday and make the arraignments to pick the van up over the weekend, and I had asked him was he sure he was going to make it home (because he said he was a driver for another owner) so I had was he sure he could make it home, and what if he got a long load for the weekend what was his plans, he had assured me that he would be heading home. And I asked he if he would please keep me informed if he got a long load and coulded make it home so that I would be able to make arrangments with my company to come up at another time. Well tried to get hold of this person all weekend no answer on his phone never gave me a call back or anything.

My point is if you give someone your word about something and things change don't leave that person hanging at least call them and tell them you changed your mind or at this time you can't be home.

I would just not worry about it - some people are afraid to say anything and others don't like to say anything and may more don't know how to return phone calls. Not knowing who this person is, I can't say anything about him specifically.

I recommend that if you go into a deal like this, have a real lawyer look over the paper work and explain it to you before signing anything.

It is wiser for you to have the advantage than to get shafted.

Read the Saturday paper under auto's. This should sum up what $89.00 car payments really mean, for 6 months than WHAMO.... Or how about $29.00 delivers, yeah OK..... Honesty or Bait and Switch?

Lets of all say the ad was on EO, and the deal was made with another driver or so he says, not no ad in any paper I would not make any deals from any newspaper ad.

My thinking is we are all expediters here and we should not be putting ads on here if we can not be honest with each other.

If you say we have a deal then thats it we have a deal, can you change your mind yes, but at least let the me know.

Because I took this persons word I had removed all signs and qc from my van because he had assured me that the deal was solid.

Would I have gotten upset if he called and said he made a deal with someone else, no I would not have. I could have made other plans to get my self back on the road.

And yes I am upset that this person never called me and let me know what happen.

And the first reply was should of had a attorney look over the paper work before I had made the deal, all this was done on the phone the paper work was to be signed over the weekend at time I was to pickup the van.

The bad thing about all this I have been in this world for way over a half centery and in the last four years of expediteing I have been ripped of more or been lied to more then any time in my life.
