Transfreight a canadian based company has formed a company in the us
called CDS

they are giving out lanes to owner/ops providing free base plates and paying your fuel taxes.

I signed up last week my run will take me from princeton,IN to lexington,ky and back 5 days a week home every night and weekends off plus they pay a fuel surcharge.they are paying me on 460 miles a day and i will be running a litlle over 400

they are doing this in an effort to do away with expedites from toyota suppliers.I think it will work out good for me and my crew

I expect this will have an impact on the expedite industry as the guy I met with had 260+ pages of routes they are looking to do this with.If you are a single driver you may want to check into this.

Thanks for the info KW! It's rare to find dedicated runs for Expedite Units instead of Tractor trailors. Holland advertises around Columbus now and then for straight truck runs, but that's the only one I know of.

Who knows what the future would hold for such an endeavor, but I'm sure a lot of folks would like the idea of a dedicated run, especially if they're a division of an already established company.

Most people only "think" they want a dedicated run. They don't understand it is in fact "their" dedicated run. Invariably, if the stars don't all line up, or, there are birthdays, holidays, or the wife stubs her toe, they are holler'n for help before a couple months pass. Make sure you want to dedicate yourself, before you accept a dedicated run. Most don't. What is an established Company? And, what would that have to do with anything?

you are correct you need to think twice before doing this type of work it is your route I like it cause its the same roads every day I dont have to call for directions I go to the same dock day after day but I have 4 kids at home and I like driving truck but dont like hanging out in truckstops.I can pack a lunch and be home for dinner
dont idle my truck and dont worry about getting stuck 2000 miles away from home if my truck broke down.I agree its not everyones cup of tea.but the good old days of expediting are over for me.as far as established they have several cross docks across the usa but just like landstar everything they have is leased even company trucks are leased from ryder. so I guess anyone in todays bussiness world could be here today gone tommorow

I ran for a long time all over the place. Then I found a dedicated run. Been four years now. Round and round I go in a big 348 mile circle same stops same times. The others are right you better think hard on the dedicated stuff. I have not taken a day off since I started with my company as we are a company where everybody has a job to do so if I want a day off I have to plan way ahead and no taking off days on a whim either was notorious at my last job in that I took a day off for any reason I could think of LOL. but there were others readily available to take my spot. I am an O/O by the way. Definitely like coming home everyday and no weekends unless I volunteer to be on call.

Transfreight is a logistic company. What they are doing is strictly tractor trailer. Their dedicated deal is for tractors only. Of course, it pays according to dedicated as well rather than expedite.
What is referenced in this post won't affect much of anything with regards to expediting. Most of these lanes have been in existence for quite some time except for some of the newer warehouses.

I had a dedicated mail run for about a 1 1/2 yrs,The first 6 months as a relief driver and then full time,My run was from Jax,Fl to Murfreesboro,Tn and back to Jax.3 trips one week and 2 the next week and making union pay about $22.16 and hour and then layover in a motel for 14 hours sounds great right? If and emergency came up or something important you wanted or needed to go too without weeks notice given then you couldn't do it.You run from point A to point B and then back again.Think about it its really a good way to make good money and know what your doing ever week but its really hard if things come up...P.S.Don't be late meeting your relief on the other end LOL.......Good luck if your thing of doing this type of run guys.

I have been dedicated going on three years. It is fantastic. Theissues are as mentioned above. As for me I think I have had a total of eight days off in two years and three months. Most of the time I am off Sunday but I missed eight days due to hospital time, which was four and then a couple of times for truck problems.

The concern is that if someone else runs the route will they take it over. That is my one and only worry so I just do not miss a day.

SquareD has runs like this thread mentions but they are for T/Ts as well.

Oh well, I do miss the longer open road trips but the sure pay has been wonderful

I'm still wondering what this "already established Company" means to everyone?

RE: dedicated auto freight UPDATE

These runs are for Power Only Tractors! At this time there are no runs for anything other than tractors to pull our 53' dry vans.

These are dedicated runs and not designed to eliminate any expediting. They are dedicated round trip runs for singles and teams. Please reply via e-mail if you would like to be contacted.

Area's that we are looking for Owner Operators are as follows:

Princeton, IN
Lafayette, IN
Chicago, IL
Georgetown, KY
Brownstown, MI
Tipp City, OH

Thanks,

Todd
