While I understand that this is a free site to members and there are no "rights to anything" really, which is fine. However, closing a thread to me seems to send the wrong message. Again, I'm late to the game as to the original issue and don't have a position on it myself. I still don't think closing the thread will help and actually sounds kinda like.... "sit down and shut up." The thread was only 3 days old. I'm all for this site but unless someone has a legit reason to close that thread, I say let the conversation continue and fade away at it's own pace not because it's our right but because it's best to let people speak their mind. Just my 2 cents... A rule is a rule, start making exceptions and well, might as well throw out the rule. Hope nobody hates me for bringing this back up, but if they do...well, get in line cuz you ain't the first.

Paid,
No body hates you for bringing it up but it was going in circles with a couple premium members chiming in taking stabs at others unrelated to the subject at hand. I would think it was the right thing to do at the time because of the escalation that was apparently happening.

Although I do not in any way agree with the decision, I have to agree with it to stay here. Which to me trying to help others is a bit more important than some serious ethical issue.

I'm getting this feeling that there will be another locked thread in the near future. Didn't Lawrence state that in the last thread? JMO Kinda a dead issue I think.

Someone once said.... "...this was proprietary info the fed did not want shared. They had every right to get it removed using the fastest means possible."

For some inexplicable reason, a lot of people seem to agree with that.

I'm still trying to figure out how and why FedEx had that right. They may have wanted to have it removed, and in the fastest means possible, and it may very well be that it should have been removed, but the means they used cannot be justified by any ethical or legal stretch of the imagination. This was simply a forum post that FedEx didn't approve of, so they had it removed. Rules, exceptions, slippery slopes.

It's like the rule that a moderator is supposed to leave a note behind explaining why they edited or removed a post, yet we have a moderator, who for the time being will remain nameless, who has once again completely removed one of my posts without so much as a courtesy PM explaining why, much less leaving a note in it's place explaining his actions. I'm expected to follow the rules outlined in the Code of Conduct, yet some of the moderators, or at least one in particular, feel they don't. Doesn't exactly leave a minty fresh taste in my mouth for EO at the moment.

Darn, ya know what really stinks? Some of us hasn't had Internet access so don't know what all the controversy is about!

I got an idea! :p Someone post the controversial info so those of us that missed all the excitement will know what it's all about and then we can agree or disagree with the mods decision! Yeah, good idea? :D heeheehee

I am at family members and my laptop that I just bought had some issues with the touchpad so I took it back. I will probably be in the dark now for a couple of months.

Exceptions? Slipery slopes? Sumpin else, what wuz it? Ah yes, sumpin bout not getting a courtesy heads up, I tink. Well, shelled one, I got a courtesy heads up from a mod a while back that she be "after" me. Ya want me to forward it to ya?? Then you'll have that courtesy ting you so badly seem to need. Or, want. Funny how expedient things get once in a while. Too bad the fed can't find loads for some of their contractors that quickly.

Also, did I read something bout someone being a saftey rep?? Zat the same person whom spectx everyone else to drive in the right or left lane of a three lane so's they can drive the center lane in their pannel waggon unimpeded??

The line starts here:D
This EOLand may be free to us but the expenses are paid by the advertisers.
That doesnt make a bad decision right, only the bad decision makes things right with the accounting dept.

I'm just trying to figure out why people keep beating the same dead horse? It's dead now let it die and bury that sucker.

If it were a case of a carrier/advertiser asking to remove a post they found objectionable, it would be a matter to get upset over - and I'd be as upset as anyone. But the reason for the objection was legitimate, IMO: a post that violated a nondisclosure clause [inadvertently], and they did ask the OP to remove it. I can't fault them for asking Terry as well, because the OP may have been willing but unable to delete the post 'in a timely fashion', right?
Freedom of speech and censorship are issues we care about, but I can't see that either were a real problem in this particular case, myself.

Ark,
It mostly has to do with the history of FedEx and the abuses that go on there with contracting resources across the company. Some of us think that it is wrong to have an employee as a mod without any disclosure to what they do or who they actually represent, which in fact is how FedEx operates sometimes, in secret.

In this case, I think Diva didn't know it wasn't to be posted until it was too late and that is the fault of FedEx and no one else's.

I don't know where qualcomm comes into the picture, the last time I looked, no one is contracted to them.

Cheri, thank you for not only getting it but explaining it well to boot. Qualcomm fits ine the picture in that they are the owner of the widget. As the owner of the widget it is their choice how much or how little to let the widget out of the bag.
