Deciding who to run for/with

Okay here's the query.
I am playing a seemingly endless round of waiting
for an owner to make up their mind as to which truck I will be driving.
How long would you wait? The owner is fair as far as on time settlements go,the pay to me is in the mid field of the ball game, has reasonably new equipment, and doesn't pitch a :censoredsign: if your on the road, and your vehicle needs repairs. They also leave you pretty much alone on the road, and doesn't question your every move. But, it is stretching onto 3 weeks now, and the bank account grows lean.

Try asking your owner for a reference needed by your next owner. Perhaps he'll then get off the pot and give you a truck. If he gives you a reference, you'll know where you stand.

I know what you're talking about. A good owner will have their priorities straight. A truck that isn't moving, isn't making the owner any money.

From what you've said, it sounds like your owner is giving you the runaround. Maybe he's thinking of putting a team in, and doesn't know what to do in the meantime. I think it's time to go shopping for a new truck.

With owner/operators and carriers, business is beteween two parties and the carrier is a business where several people can rise to assist you where assistance is needed. When a fleet owner is in the mix, it's usually a one or two man (or woman) show. If the fleet owner is unavailable for one reason or another, everything can stop.

It may be that there are things going on in the fleet owner's personal life that have him or her distracted from business priorities at the moment. You are dealing with a human being(s), not a corporation. A straightforward question to the fleet owner like, "Is everything OK?" and expressing your concerns about the delay may shed some light.

Terry's response is also a good one. When I read it, my first thought was Terry O'Connell makes Henry Kissinger look like an amateur!
