Dead Head Tax Deduction

There are many animal rescues around the country and they need to move dogs and cats around to new homes and to other rescues. Have any of you ever considered transporting a rescued animal? We do it all the time as individuals and we can write off the mileage. I would think a trucker can dead heading, but probably not under load. That might be something to help take some of the sting off of dead heading.

Just thinking.

Be careful out there.

We were with Operation Roger for a while, but delivering pets is better suited to those that know their routes in advance.

We would get a load, look on the OR board to see if we were passing near to where a pet needed picking up.

Only snag was we had no guarantee when we could deliver the pet, all depended on when we would get a load going "that way" - so unfortunately for us it really didn't work out.

We did deliver one dog to Texas (Lyric) he was a smashing dog -and the new owner was so thrilled when we dropped him off.
It is a very rewarding thing to do - and we would highly recommend it.
