Spring is coming! Yippee!!
I heard that!
This winter, our fifth on the road, has been a pain in the rear. In the first four winters, we were stopped just twice by snow. This year the weather stopped us five times.
The stops include a snow squall on I-40 near Flagstaff, AZ, traffic stopped on ice at Homestake Pass in Montana, a sleet storm that grounded us for a day in Newburgh, NY, ice at Vale Pass in Colorado, and blizzard conditions in Minnesota. Additionally, there have been a bunch of snow, rain or "wintery mix" events that have delivered a number of no-fun day and overnight trips this year.
I joke that for people who were raised up North, every winter day down south is a bonus, and for people who were raised down South, every winter day up north is a penalty. This year, from November to March, we have only been in shirt-sleeve weather a couple times, and then only for a half day or day before the freight takes us north again.
Spring cannot come soon enough.
