Hi Everyone, Wanted to take a minute today to tell you about our recent experience with one of EO's sponsors, Alumi-Bunk of Knoxville. Yesterday we took delivery of our new International, now I'm not going to sing the praises of this truck, I'll leave that to hubby (he has to get a word in somewhere here). I want to tell you what a pleasant purchasing experience we had with the folks there in Knoxville, Dan Tilley and his assistant, Shannon. From the first contact, Dan was always more than friendly, helpful, and very respecting of all of our questions, wants, and needs. He and Shannon worked very hard to make our experience as painless and comfortable as possible, going well above and beyond the call of duty to please us. After MANY phone calls back and forth for a few weeks, and their immediate response to your needs, one gets the impression that you're the only customer he's dealing with at this time, nothing could be further from the truth!! Just one visit to their bustling office will give you the wake up call that somehow these 2 are juggling you and God only knows how many other people at once and in the middle of all of this, making you feel like you're the only people that matter to them! You just don't get that feeling that they're too busy to deal with you in a friendly way that you might get at other places. I would HIGHLY recomend them to anyone looking for a new or used truck, give them a try, I think you'll be pleasantly suprised. And Dan, if you're reading this, thanks again for everything. YOU THE MAN!!

DD,
Glad to hear you had a good experience there. I've never met Dan, but he did take time out of his day to answer LOTS of questions about finance a couple weeks ago. I, too, got the impression that he would make the deal happen for me, if I decide to go with a truck, instead of the van.

I know you can't always judge by first impressions, but I DO take into account how someone, be it salesman, recruiter, whatever talks to me on first call. Do they sound like "I'm too busy for this" or... "Hey, tell me what you need".

When I'm ready for my next truck, I'll probably be givin Dan a call...

Disclaimer!

.. The opinions expressed above are simply the opinions of One grumpy long haired ol fart, who's talked to too many 'busy' people, and as such, do not constitute a compensated endorsement!!!![/font]

No way I would steal Dan Tilley!s thunder, from everything I have heard he is the man for expediting trucks, but I am wondering what ever happened to Dan Schultz. I think he worked for Knoxville Freightliner but had an office in the Speedway off I 71/76 split area.
I liked the look of that International at the Expo show, can you advise the empty weight, and do you think if a lift gate was installed could it still carry 13,000 lbs without a tag axle?? Our FL 70 has 715,000 on it and while running ok will be bounced out of FDX CC next year.

rich, i will advise you of the empty weight of the truck when i get it in the next day or so. we had a tag axle installed after talking with dan and learning that the international 7400 is a heavier truck and would probably not be able to scale a 13,000 lb payload legally. so i would say that with a liftgate that the tag axle would be a necessity. I met Dan Tilley at the expo, very direct and to the point. Has anyone purchased a cargo van through Alumi-Bunk in Knoxville or Detroit? What is your opionion(s) on the Ford E350 Extended Van?

I am happy to hear Alumi-Bunk has been listening to the wants of the expediter market and building more durable trucks of higher quality. Alumi-Bunks used to be noted in my mind as the "Universal FL70/80 CAT 3126 300k mile disposable expediter truck." Working on the better Navistar chassis with a really decent long life engine and proven transmission is the way to sell a decent, long-lasting truck to owners who are concerned about long term reliablity and resale value. People not interested in junk simply don't buy it regardless of price.
The new International 7400 looks to be an honest effort, and the best effort yet on the part of A/B to build a market-driven quality expediter truck.

HI EVERYONE! I'M CONSIDERING GETTING A 7400 INTERNATIONAL JUST LIKE THE ONE AT THE EXPO, MY CONCERN IS WITH THE STRUCTUAL INTEGRITY OF THE CAB AFTER HAVING SO MUCH STEEL REMOVED, DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE MANUFACTURES WARRANTY WAS VOIDED OR IF THE CAB WAS REINFORCED IN SOME WAY? I ASKED THIS QUESTION AT THE EXPO BUT GOT NO REPLYS. FOR THOSE OF YOU OUT THERE THAT BOUGHT THIS MODEL--- HOW DO YOU LIKE IT? AND KNOWING WHAT YOU KNOW NOW WOULD YOU DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN? IF YOU'D RATHER E-MAIL ME WITH YOUR COMMENTS I CAN BE FOUND AT [email protected] THANKS ALOT! JUST WANT TO MAKE THE BEST DECISION POSSIBLE! BE CAREFUL OUT THERE! SHARP327 :)
