Out of curiosity. What was the consensus among your campfire/hunting buddies on the ongoing talks and likely vote of the don't ask, don't tell policy?

Not what you might think. The main view was that the courts have no business in it. That congress should set policy. That, before you repel DADT, you have to insure the two following things: that the same safeguards that stopped harrassment of gays under DADT are included in any new legislation, and: that appropriate segregated shower and personal spaces were provided.

All had served with gay troops and had no problems.

Well, it is pretty much what I thought and thank you for answering. I have spoken with other servicemen and women and have gotten the same feedback as the reports have shown, and its just not an issue with them. I was curious to hear if it was any different from others such as yourself and your friends.

I don't know if I served with any gay servicemembers during my time in the Navy, but what I do know is that it wouldn't have made a difference to me.

In my opinion it is just another issue that is being politicized by the media and politicians alike.

I always try to answer if I can. It is just a political football and, as always, the politicians are messing with people's lives for power and gain.


I most likely served with gay men in the army and I KNOW I did at NSA.
