Have you had a problem with this?

We have a 22' reefer box. Our evaporator measures 32" back from the bulkhead and 18" down from the ceiling. Then because we carry the required WG equipment we have 3 shelves 24" wide (width dictated by our tripod dolly, etc) across the front of the box. Fine so far as long as we dont get a full load taller than the bottom of the evaporator.

We're suppose to be able to carry up to 10 pallets (48x40). Thats 20' if loaded straight in, 18'-8" if pinwheeled. Saved by the pinwheel, especially since we have an inside door handle securing one door. Plus the palletjack has to go somewhere (no room up front). But wait, the customer says "we cant pinwheel the freight, you'll have to get rid of the equipment up front. We ordered a 20'truck"! No lie.

A while later we get a custom telling us they want to load their product (that stands 4" down from your ceiling) tight up against our evaporater so they can get 2 more pallets on. We explain to them it could damage our alum. evaporator while we're in transit having 2- 1000# pallet against it. They argue over that. Isn't it interesting that we were originally dspt'd on less than a truck load.

All we're trying to do here is service the customer without tearing up our truck, abide by our contract requirements, and for God's sake don't tell them you can only give the customer 19.5'. If so, you just became a "C" unit! :'(

Well i drove a WG "DR" unit for about 6 yrs and had our equiptment and pallet jack the same way,And i have never had a load that couldn't be pinwheeled or hauled if it was truly a D unit load. Some customers want to save money and order a D unit when they really need a E unit not for the weight but the size of the load or skids...I've 3000 lbs not fit in a D unit heck.....

There is an particular Pharmaceutical customer that will not allow regular wood pallets to be pinwheeled. Their concern was lack of air flow under the product since it was a temp controlled load. After almost cancelling the load on us, they decided to reload the product on european style pallets. They were open on all sides, thus allowing for air flow.
