Crossing the Median

dragonrider posted about losing control of his truck. I don't want to steal his post. Many times you read of a car or truck going across the median and doing a head-on with the traffic coming the other direction. My question is: When you hit the medium at speed, do you completely lose control of your vehicle? I was going to try an experiment and run into the median doing about 70 but my wife discouraged me. In her car, of course.

Well think about it . How many vehicles do you see manage to get back in the proper lane after hitting the median ? If all those vehicles that wrecked had any control do you think they would have continued to the other lane ? Of course some of them may have drifted to the median because they fell asleep at the wheel .
My first thought on reading this was of the IL state trooper that was going over 100 m.p.h. about a year ago when he claimed a car cut him off and he swerved to the median . He went to the opposite lane and hit a car head on killing the two sisters occupying it .

In GA the State Troopers cross the median all the time to go after speeders. I keep hoping to see one of them get stuck after a rains storm. Jerry Lee

alth'ow they "nailed" me in the past , i have learn the hard way , that when you are out on the road, in a bad situation ,and need help , the State trooper will be there for you .
i wish them only the best , and will hate to see them "stuck" on the side of the road.

I have a good friend who is a retired Michigan state trooper and I have much respect for those guys. Still, I had one cut through the median to come get me and I was only traveling at about 5 over in my car. Usually they give you 5mph but this guy was gonna get me. Well, it was spring and it had been a rainy month so he didn't get far. You can imagine my relief when he sunk right down to the frame in the mud. He never turned on his overhead light so I just kept toodeling along humming to myself. This was years ago, back in the old 55 days. He may not have been after me but traffic was very light and there were few vehicles in sight.
