Could mean less Caterpillar loads in couple of months

Cat is going with one company to do their loads instead of the 16 now doing it. Word has it is between Fed ex Custom Critical and some other think it was WIS or something similar to it. This means lot less on GPS board and those 16 who bid on them now are without some loads in future.

Cat loads are most of the time cheap....Fedex won't touch them they have enough cheap loads now,...any other rumors???

I delivered a Cat load to East Peoria Thursday. .51/f.s.c. Talked to 2 Tristate drivers there Friday morning. Seems they are busy with Cat loads. Both loaded out of East Peoria with Cat loads going to Fountain Inn, SC, about an hour apart.

I heard 3 state has the bulk of the contract this year...seems Cat likes those one year deals in case a new expedite company comes along to bid low....I still think the Feds won't want it .

What do you think LG loads are? They are cheap appliance loads that they took from Landstar. Landstar did these loads with Ranger from what I heard, not express which is equal to FedEx freight, not CC.

FedEx will negotiate with Cat using FedEx freight pricing, cheap.

I wonder where FedEx will get all those flatbeds and special trailers to haul some of the 'special' stuff if they get the entire contract?

I am sorry it doesn't click...how would Cat move the smaller pieces...the logistics of it just sounds off as stated here...guess we'll see as the story unfolds...

FedEx will have to go to their "special place" because there is no one company that could handle all of Caterpillar's transportation requirements. Do you have any idea how large Caterpillar is?

Just the OD stuff alone is handled by several specialized carriers. Next time you are at a Cat facility look at the trailer lot or at a dock and note all the different trucking companies hauling for Cat.

I would be surprised if they even turned all of their expedite over to one carrier. Maybe they are going to a 3PL to handle expedite loads.

Lets start a rumour mill....I heard E-1 wants some of the Cat pie...(that's weird)...anyhow E-1 already has at least 25 warehouse facilities around the country not including the Evansville distribution network and Swanton Xdock facility...and the U.S./Mex. cross border office. So we are in good shape to handle some of the loose change....:D

And here I was told that Taylor Made was getting all the expedite stuff. So much for rumors.........;)

BTW, Tri-State has never done Cat at "cheapo" rates. They don't broker the overflow as cheapo either.

Col...if I weren't so lazy I'd do my own huntin and fetchin...I gots no ambition for that...naw I take that back ..I do when I get pizzzed at my carrier and they seem like they let me rot and I can't see the loads around me.., but thats my pain to deal with...ya reap whata sow...

They certainly can. But it's amazing how it puts that little "ripple in the pond" on a level playing field.

also goes to show these rookies here that with all this partnering...the need or perceived need to be with a certain BIG carrier is near unwarranted...since every carrier has access to these loads...You could be with a TWO HORSE operation and still have the same loads opportunities...

Actually jeff, it puts the other'uns, on a bit of a uphill struggle. As some of their contractors are finding out.
