It's time to either eliminate playoff games entirely or ban a team from the playoffs for a decade if their moron citizens do this stuff. If the same city does it twice it's a permanent ban from any future playoffs.

Have you noticed that "most" rioters are left wing wack jobs. Yet its the right wing that osamas oops obama's admin says we have to worry about? And before someone blows their cork and says the sports idiots arent left wing they are equaly divided up between all kinds of parties.<<gets a mention because of the article

I'm not "blowing a cork" but I'd like to know how you gleaned from the story what political affiliation these particular rioters have?

The intention of the story was to compare that the youth of Iran are fighting for their freedom while the youth of this country riots when their team wins.

When I look at pictures of the Iranian youths, I don't see arm loads of shoes being carried off either. Wonder what stealing shoes has to do with winning?

Ok I see it got by you I was pointing out that party had nothing to do with sports riots but had you thumbed through some of the other stories on that page I like to call them links funny little things that when you click on them they bring you to another web page [ or in this case another story ]. Now I hope I don’t really need to s p e l l it out any more for you. oh one more thing i am talking about riots here in this country.

Uh....no need to get testy here. My original post LINKED the story that I was referring to. If you want to discuss other instances of riots then you should provide a LINK to those stories.

Your comment above is what I was referring to...how would you know which party, any party, or equally divided between all kinds of parties.

When your teams win any type of championship,it is an open invitation to burn the town down and get a new pair of shoes and a tv set.

We have been waiting a long time to burn Cleveland, and I haven't had a new pair of sneakers or a tv in quite awhile.

One of the largest sports related riots ever was after one of Iran's World Cup qualifying matches in 2001 when more than 1000 people were arrested, more than 200 injured and unknown number of dead. A close second was one in 2007 when a soccer match in Italy resulted in the police commissioner dead, 70 injured and nearly 1000 arrested.

At least the one in Iran started out as a sports riot, but evolved into a political protest. The one in Italy, well, they were just stupid fans fighting fans of the opposing team. That one devolved.

If there is rioting and looting shut down that city's team for a decade. If it happens a second time shut them down for a millennium. If the dirtbags, scum and trash are going to abuse the situation then reward them for it by shutting their team down. Pro sports teams are totally unnecessary.

Are we supposed to take this seriously?

Since this is a political forum, and since it was brought up, I thought I'd answer. Since libs are so fond of reminding us that the Republican party is made up of Bible reading, gun toting rednecks, I think I should be able to counter them. Democrats are made up of low life scum, who would take every opportunity to start a riot. City of Angels(?) now has a stereotype attached to it. :p

In order to shut down a business enterprise like a professional sports team because of the rioting of the fans, you would have to prove that the business had the power to control the third party fans, or prove the team was directly responsible for the actions of its fans, including the ones who were not at the game. Good luck with that.

Pro sports teams are totally unnecessary.
Neither are hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet, but those things along with baseball is what America is all about, and if you don't like at least one of 'em you're not a real American. Can't be. No way.

It has been widely accepted that the 2001 World Series between the Arizona Diamonbacks and the New York Yankees played not an insignificant role in this country beginning the healing process in the aftermath of 9/11. Then again, they also said the same thing about Letterman and SNL. YMMV

In any case, "necessary" is a very subjective thing when you try and apply it to the following:

Economic Value of the Major Leagues
MLB *Gross Revenue: $2.79 Billion *Net Worth: $6.55 Billion
NHL *Gross Revenue $1.82 Billion *Net Worth: $3.75 Billion
NFL *Gross Revenue: $3.51 Billion *Net Worth: $12.80 Billion
NBA *Gross Revenue: $2.1 Billion *Net Worth: $6.01 Billion

You get rid of professional sports, you put an awful lot of people out of work. And I don't mean the athletes.

If there's crime and violence, take the ppls' guns away. If the dirtbags, scum and trash are going to abuse the situation, then reward them by taking away everyone's 2nd Amendment rights. Guns are totally unnecessary.

See how a couple words switched around can make your comment sound totally crazy? Why would you punish the law abiding citizens for what a couple of hoodlums do? And just because you think sports teams are unnecessary, so what? Isn't that free enterprise?

Simple solution... warn the ppl of the area BEFORE the game, that any rioters will be shot on site... then follow thru.

The teams could still play and the vendors still sell programs, just don't let that team play past the quarterfinals if they make the playoffs at all. Pro sports are not Constitutionally protected. I have no problem with a shoot on sight order for looters. I'd say deputize every business owner and make them the law in their own store with authority to shoot anyone entering and widely publicize that.

Last I checked, pro sports are not government or public property, which makes them private property, which is what the Constitution is all about. So you bet your Texan tushie they're constitutionally protected!
