I'm an independent owner/ operator from GA. I am considering signing on with Tri-State Express. I am worried that Tri-Stae is going to keep me in the northeast and New York city or crossing the Rockies for my first year, all the places that nobody else will take. I don't mind the driving, but those places are really hard to drive through during winter and the pay just doesn't seem to match the difficult driving conditions. Also, I'm still responsible for truck maintenance, registrations, truck payments, liability insurance, etc. It seems to me that, if that's what I'm doing now, what's the difference in signing on with someone? The only advantage I see is that they will keep me loaded (yes/ no) and I'll get a 20cpm fuel surcharge. I would like to hear from others about their first year experiences with expediting companies, please.

My carrier C&M I just cannot say enough about. My first few months were GREAT. And it has generally remained that way now for two years.

Thank you Leo for the reccomendation that I call them. If your considering a company and have not signed on yet, call them 800 953 0802. Ask for Mike Petry.

Been with Tri-State for 4 months now, I am happy over all, there are good and bad days.
Now a couple of Questions,
Are you going to run single or team?
How long do you want to stay out?

As the other couple told you can put no run areas on your truck.

Send me a message if you need more info.

I work also for tri-state....and we had an overload of trucks coming on and this leaves the rest of the fleet to sit and wait for loads...if you refuse a load you are put down for 12 hrs now...you can only refuse a load within the guide lines...

they are a great company to work for but we are hurting just like the other big boys....

there are other out there that are just as good...
