Considering joining TST with cargo van

Hi everybody,

I'm kind of new here. I've only been doing this for about 8 months. I'm thinking about taking on a position as a cargo van owner/operator for TST in Windsor. If you have work/worked for them or know someone who has/is working for them can you tell me how they do? How do they treat their cargo van drivers and do you get sufficient miles to keep you happy? I look forward to your replies.

Thanks in advance for all of the replies.

I have 2 D units on there and I am happy with the miles my trucks get. Cargo vans on the other hand don't do so good. Maybe on good weeks you'll gross $500.00. Plus, with shutdown only 2 weeks away, it will be so dead, my drivers are planning on taking almost the whole 2 weeks off. I would recomend you look someplace else. Good luck

Don't do it. The recruter lied to me about how much you could make. She said $1000 to $1400 a week. I never even saw $800 a week. They get you out on the road and then you sit for 3 or 4 days. I was in a B-unit cargo van. I quit in January, thank god.

I had a cargo van with them from 12/98 to 9/99. Run as fast as you can in some other direction. I know people who are there with cargo vans currently. They have good weeks from time to time but overall it's not a good situation.

See I told ya. Cargo Van's are not doing ggod at TST. I don't know how they are doing anyplace else, but as far as TST goes, is not good. I hope you fina a good company to sign on with.

Thanks for the advice, I'm already running the other direction very fast, now can someone advice me where to turn? :) :)

Just remember I'm in the greater Toronto area. (Ontario)

RE: Canadian Expedite Cos.

Try:
Dynamex at the Cambridge terminal. The Mississauga terminal is same day courier. Midnight Express at the Airport. K-Dac in Baden near Kitchener. Remex Express in Stratford, 1-800-463-4141.
TNA express in Mississauga. Heck, even ERB has an expedite division, they'd require you to install a reefer though.
Check the Husky truckstop at Courtney Park and Highway 410. I see vans in there, but I can't think of the company names.
Hope this gives you some ideas.
Best of luck.

Hi Rich:
No I've never met Jim Bunting. I do miss his comments on the Forum here. There aren't very many Canadians.
Sorry by the way to be so long in answering, time flies whether or not you're having fun.
