Yes it's a great time in your life you just got promoted to corporate trouble shooter. Your new position allows you to fix anything that needs fixed within the company. After careful consideration you decide to put all of your energy into the top two problems.

What are they?
How do you fix them?

Lets try and be realistic, Sure we want to see the rates go up, but how are you going to accomplish that? So be specific, and realistic.

Depending on the size of this corporation...

I'd try to balance internal costs and increase per mile pay across all classes maybe only .03-.05 per mile to show O/O's I am sincere. This would hopefully make for some happier O/O's and slow the revolving door so I could cut recruiting costs this would help fund the former. I'd go over every customer contract and re-negotiate where possible, even it's only a penny to help fund the per mile increase. Hopefully this would put me on a roll...If dispatchers/load planning didn't have to dicker and bargain with every load they could utilize their time better and I could train them better for the hopefully increase in business.

We can build on this...
