Con Way Now

I have been reading this forum for about 6 months now and I would like to begin by saying Thank You. I have learned alot. I will be attending the Con Way orientation on the 31st -1st. I have also been approved by Fed Ex. I've been hearing that things are slower than they were last year at this time and yet there was an article on this website that says that there are a shortage of drivers. I would like to know more about these two companies. I have read through the archives and know most of the general info. I was hoping you could tell me how busy you guys (and ladies, of course)are. How many paid miles you have averaged in the past month or two. How many deadhead miles. How commited and compitent are dispatcher. If they ask me to deadhead to and area, will I find others have been there for days waiting for loads? I will be part of a team in a D Unit. Please feel free to e mail any responces as to avoid any problems.

Again, thank you for all the wonderful information that you have all shared. I do not think that I would have had a chance to succeed in this business if it had not been you and this site.

If you would like to email me about any questions/concerns you have about Con-Way, I would be happy to try and answer them. We have been with them as a D unit team for 4 years. Just put Con-Way in the subject line.

We have run for CWN since last October as drivers for a fleet owner and they have been very good to us. As newbies we had a lot to learn and they were patient with us through the learning process. Every company has its unique characteristics and you must learn which set fits you best. We recently bought our first semi tractor and are in the process of having it stretched and a box installed. We should be back on the road late next week. We love life on the road. Layovers are an opportunity to catch up on sleep or take tours. Deadhead miles suck but are an opportunity to move to a more active freight market. Make lemonade out of lemons!
